Pissed off I'm missing 2 dcs sports days

Every flipping year they schedule the exam boards the same day as my children's school sports day. Again this year I am missing 3 days of events all on exam board days. Am I bu to be very annoyed at this. I can't get out of it either as I play a key role in the exam boards so my attendance is compolsory.

I have always moved heaven and earth to avoid sports days 😁 I am sure your DC don’t care - and if they do take them for a celebratory ice cream afterwards

I agree with Lured.
It seems attractive because you haven't been.
Seriously, most working parents can't go to sports Days. Even those who technically could arrange their diary for a day or half day off, generally barely have enough leave to cover the school holidays as it is, so can't use it up for a sports day.

Ah I’m sorry. despite what the previous posters say I quite like sports day, but have only managed to get to 2 out of 10 for my children. It is what comes with jobs where the important days are in the summer. At least I guess you get to go to school plays and Christmas events ok?

Have you spoken to whoever schedules the exam board about whether another year they might have it a different day? I know it needs to be x days after the exam and y days before the results but there may be a day or two flexibility if you ask for next year. I must say as a veteran of many sports days there are far better days in the school calendar. Most of it you spend listening to other parents whose progeny is heading for the olympics. Can their father/ grandparents/ aunt/ uncle etc. go instead?

Sports day and musical evening are definitely a low point in the school year for parents IMO

Crocsandshocks · 11/06/2022 20:02

Haha these answers are helpful thank you. I think the grandparents are going to watch so that is something at least!

In ten years of primary school I never made a sports day. Both of my dcs hated it anyway so no great loss.
