I'm just feeling really blue about work at the minute - anyone else? I haven't managed to take a proper week off even though I was in a/l (too many very urgent emails to do with admin role). I'm just fed up of this. The next 2 months are a long hard sprint through different exam boards for me, there's been no resolution to the industrial action, and no end in sight for the over-work. I've signed up for a therapist to help me work out what to do.

I feel the same. I used to be absolutely passionate about HE and my subject and would always be putting in extra hours and effort. Now the ethos, workload and the gaslighting has ruined that. Especially the gaslighting. The students are miserable because they feel they are getting a poor deal (they are!) and blaming those of us who are student facing rather than the decision makers. There is more work to do than people to do it but the work needs to be done quicker and better than ever for more students.

Im in a lucky position as Im in my last decade of my career so my solution is to work as hard as I can on the biggest priorities for my contracted hours and then stop. What I can't do I don't do and explain why I can't and I've stopped caring so much - it's just a job that pays the rent.
