Promotion to professor

I am trying to put together my application for promotion to full professor and most of it is going OK, but I am finding it very difficult to write the 'What do you profess?' statement bit because I am a bit of an Ian Botham and quite broad in what I research. Has anyone any useful advice? I'm feeling a bit disorientated.

Could you say something like "my research has three interrelated strands" or "my research has made four main contributions"?

"My research sits at the intersection of X and Y"

"I am a X [discipline] of A, B and C"

I think every promotions process is a bit different, but in ours it is important to demonstrate what difference your research has made

agree, you need to highlight the major themes in your research, both past things and also future directions. Get in keywords like 'international' or 'interdisciplinary' or whatever else appears in the promotions criteria.

the key thing is to show how you meet the criteria. they need to tick off the list, so make it easy for the evaluator to see how your profile matches what they want.
