Professional doctorate from private UK university

Good morning,
I'm a senior lecturer in a public university, and considering doing a professional doctorate at a private university. It's a 3-4 years part-time course that fits well with my current workload which is mainly course leadership and about 5-6 hours of weekly teaching in autumn and spring, and a teaching free summer term. What are the pros and cons of doing a doctorate at a private UK university versus public?
Thanks

what - like BPP or Buckingham. No idea about that sector. Constitutionally allergic to it! I personally would be unlikely to take a theory PhD seriously from such a place, but a professional one is a different kettle of fish I suppose. I would always wonder if it had been properly quality assured though. And there are differences between profit and non profit, UK owned or foreign campuses...too many variables

Where are you planning to go with it? I would be concerned you wouldn’t be taken seriously. Why is a regular university not an option?
