GP Nurse - Education advice needed...

MollyAllison · 18/08/2019 12:18

Apologies if I'm wrong topic.

I am wanting to train to become a GP nurse, what qualifications, skills etc are needed?

I am going back to college next month to study an access to higher education course as I have been out of education for nearly ten years and had a baby a year ago so wanting to make something of my future for my family.

Thank you very much Smile

Sorry, I think this probably is the wrong topic - might get more replies in the Higher Education bit? Most of us here are teachers at universities and I think there is one 'regular' who's a medic, but I think there are more nurses on the higher-traffic areas of MN.

You need to train as an adult nurse (that is undertake the 3 year degree) and then once you have that you can apply for a post as a GP practice nurse. They will then often offer on the job programmes of study specific to the practice nurse role

There are specific access to nursing courses which may be better than a generic access to higher education courses.

Then a nursing degree.

Then try and get a job at a GP surgery.
