Doing something completely different/ new qualifications after PhD?

Hi there,

I love my PhD, and hope to produce decent outputs from the work, but I am seriously doubting wanting to go into academia and the knowledge economy in general (I also do bits of writing and analysis). I often hear about people moving into vaguely relevant fields, but I was wondering if anyone has done something less related to their subject?

I'm in area studies/ social sciences, and am interested in going into social work. I will finish when I am 30ish.

I'm in government social research. I love the diversity and the policy impact (well, sometimes anyway!). PM me if you would like to know more
