Collating responses in class

purplepandas · 11/09/2018 14:43

Hi,

I am (reluctantly) thinking about materials for semester one. I want to collate some responses from gorup work in class to put on the VLE. What do people use to do this? Responses are too long for something like poll everywhere. Is google docs the best option? I could ask them to all email me but that's a huge pain!

Thanks
PP

Doodlepoll?

I haven't used it in lectures but it seems to be the in thing currently to get a vote on which date would be best for another meeting.

@purplepandas. Thought of you today. Someone was telling me about google forms which sounds like it might do what you want. I’ve never used it but he says he uses it in lectures to get responses, you can do long answers, short answers or multi choice stuff. He said it works instantly.

Thanks Nico and Omn. Yes, longer qual answers so something like google forms could work. I will investigate. I use poll everywhere for polling questions and really short descriptions (e.g. why is chocolate so tasty?) but I need something that can deal with longer answers. Google forms it is I think.

Thanks Flowers

Have a look at pallet. I've used this to record short responses to group discussions during large lectures. Students follow a short link on the devices and type in their answers, you can then see them all come in, group and can discuss them. You can also save the output and distribute it after the class. Not suitable for survey type work (look at mentemeter for that) but I've found it useful.

Thanks wobbly, will have alook at pallet. Funnily enough someone put me onto mentimeter a month or so ago. I prefer it to polleverywhere which is what I used to use. Thanks!
