Any nursing lecturers around?

I'm after some help please. I've been shortlisted for an entry level nurse lecturer post for pre reg adult nursing and I'm looking for advice on what to revise for interview. I'm looking at standards for nurse education, retention and attrition, research and evidence based practice. Is there anything else I need to know? All advice gratefully received.

I'm not a nursing lecturer but work a lot with our Nursing Department. I do know that at present they are very concerned with a changing landscape for nursing - changing NMC standards which are forcing all programmes across the country to be rewritten by 2019 or 2020 (so check that you have the right version if the standards, and perhaps talk about how you can help in a stressful process of change management); recent cuts to funding; the move to loans not bursaries etc.

Our department seems to use the NMC Code of Practice a lot.

Beyond the areas you list, perhaps something on assessment of students; how to support students (including in practice depending on role); challenges facing students; what expertise you can offer and how you would fit into the departments modules / teaching. But these are just guesses.

Is it a teaching and research role or a teaching only role? If the former, something on your own research plans.

@thejeangenie36 thank you for replying. Yes, the new standards for nurse education were published in May this year so very recent. It is a teaching only role but taking part in research and eventually PhD study is expected so I'm ready to talk about my own research interests. Thank you for your help.

Yes the future Nurse standards will certainly come up and think about the changes to practice assessment in particular. Issues around the annex B procedures. Be an absolute expert on these

How do you involve service users in education? Read about coproduction models
How can we support failing students?
How can we support students with vulnerabilities - supporting stds with MH issues is a BIG topic in HE

Nursing lecturer here. At my interview I was asked about innovative teaching methods I would bring to the university. I had no answer for this as it was my first lecturing role and I had no clue.

It might be worth thinking about, or bringing up, the role of supporting students on placement and the need for good relationships with practice, as our students spend half their time there. We have a link lecturer model where I work but not sure if this is everywhere.

Make sure you know a bit about TEF and REF, particularly TEF if you are teaching only.

Ask about the mentoring and induction programme expectations for new staff.

Pretty much all undergrad (and pre-reg MSc) nursing programmes at having a problem with recruitment at the moment (we are here anyway) and our numbers are down a lot. We are being e

oops, hit send by accident. We are facing job losses here due to the changes in funding for nursing so think about what you can get out of the job in the next year or two that will stand you in good stead for the future.

Thank you @redeyetonowheregood I am taking note of all of the potential interview questions mentioned on this thread and formulating answers to them. This university does have link lecturers for each trust and fairly close working relationships with the practice placement managers so I will mention that.
