Time frame for AHRC grants for postgraduate funding?

DD has been offered a place to do a PHD at Cambridge for the next academic year and has applied for funding from AHRC. She has not heard anything yet and is becoming anxious. Does anyone know when she might hear anything? Apparently they don't send out rejection letters as such, so you just have to wait and no news is bad news.

Hi folks

We're going to move this thread over to Academics Corner now.

Has she also applied/is she also automatically in the running for any Cambridge funding?
I know a fair few people applying for doctorates this cycle & heard that if you get a place on a Cambridge PhD, internal funding is likely to come through eventually (this is all through the grapevine though!). I doubt AHRC is her only option?
She could also ring up and see if someone in admin knows anything about her application, and it's worth checking gradcafé.
In any case, congrats on her place and fingers crossed it's a positive answer soon!

Not Cambridge, but we're just in the middle of the selection process for PhD studentships in our Doctoral Training Partnership. It's been held up because of strike action, but usually interviews are around this time - they may extend into the Easter vacation.

Thank you Velour and Girl for your comments.

DD has just heard that she has a fully funded award, so from tears to joy in half an hour!

Also! I know someone who didn't get funding for the first year of her DPhil but got it for the subsequent years and then secured a postdoc at the same institution immediately after submitting her thesis. Maybe that's a bit reassuring?
