I hope you don't mind me posting here!

I am in the process of applying to do a conversion masters and need an academic reference. I completed my first degree approx 6 years ago and have emailed one of my tutors (also the programme leader), to ask if she would be willing to write me a reference.

She has not responded (although she was kind enough to provide a reference for another course I did a couple of years ago). My question is - would it be okay to approach one of her colleagues instead? Or is this considered poor form?

Many thanks.

should be fine. you can also go back to the first person & remind him/her.

tutors can be very busy (20 students per year x 6 + years of references to write) may not even remember a student from 6 years ago very well. so do include your CV with your email & remind the tutor of what you did.

Yes, ask someone else also, that's fine. Good advice abut including a CV.

Also, check your spam! My last reference was in there for a week before I realised!

Thank you, that is helpful.
