Can anyone advice how best to get into lecturing?

I'm a designer with 13 years commercial experience and would love to get into lecturing or teaching at college level. I have a BTEC National Diploma in Design and BA Hons 2:1 in Graphic Design.

My biggest problem is I am also a single mum of 3 kids who needs to earn a crust. I can't simply have no wage, any ideas?

I do know that people with commercial experience are often very sought after in this type of field, however it's really out of my own experience, so I can't help, sorry! Do you mean college as in post-16 or university/higher education teaching? If it is uni, then jobs are on jobs.ac.uk- your local College will also have a vacancies page.

Your biggest problem is that often these vacancies are casual/temporary and rarely would they take someone permanently who hasn't taught before- so that flexibility that will get you a foot in the door perhaps isn't there.

I am not sure though- I'd contact people at the place you'd like to work and ask for their advice (not all uni lecturers have PhDs in more applied fields but lots do).
