My current institution is in a terrible mess and the prospect of compulsory redundancies (maybe closing us down entirely) is looming. This will be the 4th round of redundancies in 6 years.
There's a job going at Sheffield Univeristy that I'm thinking about applying for. It's in the Humanities. Can anyone comment on what it's like working at the university? I have 2 DDs (6&8). My DH is a SAHP.
I'm in Scotland so somewhat sheltered from the impact of fees. How is Sheffield doing recruitment-wise?
I love working at my current university, but the constant uncertainty and repeated financial crises is very stressful. I just don't want to jump from the frying pan into the fire, especially as I'm not particularly aware of how £9k fees are affecting the work environment.
