Stern review on REF 2020

any opinions? Is this being discussed somewhere else online... are there fora on THES? I think deadline for comments might be 22 Feb.

I am totally clueless if I should care ... I am not REFd and within academia have no prospects for promotion. To support the people I work for maybe I should understand some part of this, though?

I first heard about it via an internal circular at my RG university. I imagine we'll be putting in a formal response, rather than as individual academics. What's for sure is that the last REF, which was meant to reduce workload, was even worse than the previous one. Mad system. I'm dead against metrics, but some simplification is an imperative. And don't get me started on the impact business. Yet another stick to beat us with.
