I've just 'jellyfished' back, for once.

A woman I work with in the same department clearly doesn't like me - makes no effort to have been the smallest chat etc. Fine.
But, if there's ever the slightest issue, she always puts it in writing and involves my line manager. Having been at work with her all day today, she's waited until this evening to email me, copying in my line manager. What's she's mentioned isn't actually something I've done wrong as far as I can see (and I've sent her a screenshot to prove it), and I've also contacted the other person involved to make sure they have the right information.
Having done that, I've emailed her again, saying that I'm puzzled as to why she didn't talk to me about it - we even have a policy at work about this.
I've had enough, this week is the most stressful one of the year, and I've let it go so many times, and have even offered to have a face to face with her with the line manager present to clear the air, which wasn't taken up.
AIBU?

I've never heard of jellyfishes

hattyhathat · 15/06/2023 22:31

Explain jellyfished please

CalamityCara · 15/06/2023 22:32

Stupid me googled so I’m wondering what ‘post coital jizz’ has to do with this situation.

vipersnest1 · 15/06/2023 22:32

Jellyfishing is when you go in for the kill, completely unexpectedly (a la Bridget Jones' diary! Grin), supposedly in all innocence. (So in other words, you are being a bitch but doing it in a totally fake-innocent way.)

Good for you OP. I can’t stand jobsworths like this! Why not just approach and resolve with you in work? Involving line manager each time is unnecessary. Update us with their reply!

vipersnest1 · 15/06/2023 22:40

@CalamityCara - that's opened a whole new world for me, which I don't intend to investigate! Grin

Jellyfishing is when someone casually stings you as they float by smiling and waving. Well done you op, this really annoys me when people are happy to create an issue at work but lack the courage to just say something to your face

Itsanotherhreatday · 15/06/2023 22:42

Be pleasant

I’d have gone for

Thank you so much for the information, we could’ve really got to the bottom of this with a short conversation during working hours, maybe to avoid further confusion and delays in future we could get together and discuss this as professionals.

Kind regards

vipersnest1 · 15/06/2023 22:42

@Lacoeur, it's been going on for over nine years. I really don't get it - and I'd much rather get on with everyone I work closely with, even if we're not bosom buddies, at least able to pass the time of day with each other.
No reply so far (no surprises there).

@Itsanotherhreatday, I went with 'I'm puzzled as you didn't mention it to me when I saw you today?'
(I saw her several times and she actually exchanged a small pleasantry with me at one point.)

I wonder if your colleague is a total introvert and is like this with everyone? Not just you specifically. They probably hate confrontation.

vipersnest1 · 15/06/2023 22:54

@Circumferences, I've wondered if that is the case, but this wasn't even a possible confrontation and nor have the many other incidents been either, just an 'oh, by the way, so-and-so said this, so can you have a look?' type of thing.
I'm clueless as to why she does this.

Solidarity, I work with someone exactly like that. It's just so tiring, to be always on the back foot.

What's the secret to deal with those twats?

Crinkle77 · 15/06/2023 23:15

The line manager should be having a word and telling them to take up these with you directly rather than wasting their time with things they don't need to be involved in.

vipersnest1 · 15/06/2023 23:40

@Crinkle77 , you would hope so, but no. I mentioned earlier that I asked to meet with her, and literally never got a response.

A decent manager should nip them in the bud

MeinKraft · 16/06/2023 00:17

Sorry meant to say yes I agree (obviously)

You have a manager problem (DManager Grin)

vipersnest1 · 16/06/2023 20:34

Had a reply mid morning - 'only remembered last night, sorry.' !
Yeah, right.... Confused Still annoyed.
