Condom failure

Our condom failed on Thursday night, i went to seem my GP on Friday for emergency contraceptiion - the morninh after pill. Now I read that it is on,ly 95 % effective an I am worried sick that I am pregnant. Too old for another one and had a horrible last pregnancy. It is taking oover every thought and can't slepp or function. Hubby says don't worry - his answer would be termination but don't think I could do it. My periods are very irregular anyway and I prprey that i am not pregnant. Should I do a test?

If you ring the family planning clinic today you could have a coil put in which is more effective than the MAP (depending on when in your cycle you are) - it's effective and licenced up to 5 days after unprotected intercourse, and can stay in if you want a more reliable form of contraception than condoms. A test today won't be positive yet.

When would your period be due?

victoriah3 · 08/06/2010 14:48

Not sure my cycle is so irregular, it is about 3.5 weeks since the last ine but can be 6 or even 7.

if you def dont want any more kids, would it be worth looking in to having a hysterectomy? (sorry bout spelling)

i know its a big step but you sound so bloody frightened.

hi, i know how worrying it is. I have had a recent scare myself. You have taken it very quickley after the condom failure. Apparently you can also have an UD inserted to the same effect as a morning after pill.

It is a shame you have irregular periods, so you can't even do your dates.

About a week after i took the MAP, i started to get horrendously tender boobs, I felt sick, and i was convinced I was pg. Just to let you know that i had these symptoms, but my period came about a week after those symptoms began. I was googling and so worried, and i just want you to know i understand.

IUD

Thanks pirate cat

I also have sensitive boobs and a sickie feeling and have convinced myself I am pregnant, I saw my Gp last night who said I am unlikely to be but I always think the worst. Also havs bad indigestion and dizziness a week on?

Sending hubby for vasectomy I think - I will have to talk him round you know how sensitive men are about their bits

i had bloated tummy and wind and was generally super aware of everything going on in my body. It was all a build up to a very heavy period, which lasted a week.

But I am not complaining.

Cheers

I have finally got my period this morning - what a relief, Definitely sending husband to the snip clinic. He reluctantly agreed, any one had a partner go through it, is it really awful of minimal pain and he is just being a wuss?

phew, glad you are ok.

expatinscotland · 14/06/2010 09:11

DH was snipped. No real bother at all and definitely, according to him, not as intense as my forceps delivery with accompanying cut and stitches.

victoriah3 · 14/06/2010 11:41

Yes I had 28 stiches and I couldn't sit down for three weeks!!! Should be a stroll for him then????
