Too much white/cream for a wedding?

I'm going to my long term partner's sister's wedding. Her mum says the following outfit is fine - my other half not so sure. What do people think?

with a massive yellow clutch bag, which I can't find. I'll obviously take the coat off after the service and before the photos. I know the fascinator is a bit eccentric, but I fell in love with it in the shop. (It might well come off when I get sick of it)...

Any views - am I being paranoid?

Thanks!

So this dress in yellow with this coat in white and these shoes in taupe?

(can't work out fascinator link)

The dress is fab but the coat (besides being white) looks rather like a posh lab coat. I suspect it looks better in person than in the photo, though.

Ah, this fascinator?

I wouldn't do a cream fascinator with a white coat; they would clash horribly. I suppose it depends on how off the off-white is.

BallpointPen · 03/06/2010 14:17

I would do the dress, shoes, fascinator and clutch but wouldn't do the coat because I don't like it, ProfLayton has it right, it's a lab coat.

Will you need a coat? When is the wedding?

Sorry - long term partner should say is a "he" - Bride's mother says' outfit is fine.

Wedding on Saturday. It doesn't look like a lab coat on, provided its not done up! Its a bit of a fifties cut with half length sleeves and looks ok as its more cream than white...

I only want the coat to walk to the service with and keep on as everyone else has posh jackets etc. I'll ditch it before the photos etc...

Thanks for your replies!

so this dress in the yellow
this coat
these shoes
and this hairthing?

I would ditch the coat altogether tbh - looks like a dental assistant's lab coat to me. Get a cardi that'll show more of the yellow dress.

sorry, extreme crossposting there

Pootles2010 · 03/06/2010 15:41

This sat is set to be scorching - i'd ditch the coat. Love the dress and fascinator though!

Pootles2010 · 03/06/2010 15:43

really cheeky question - how are your arms? if you're really lucky and have skinny-mini arms i'd show them off. I bet a lot of the ladies with jackets are hiding bingo wings - thats only reason i'd wear one to a summer wedding.
