Possible abandoned car

There has been a car parked on the road outside my house for about 10 days now. It is covered in bird poo (not a problem, generally in this street, so looks like it has been parked somewhere rather more rural for a long time). The tax disc is in date. The car looks pretty empty, there's a bit of rubbish in there and a few cds.

I was thinking of sticking a notice on it saying "Is this car abandoned?" so that if it does belong to someone nearby they might move it.

Is that reasonable do you think?

call local police no., they can see if it's stolen or track the owner or something.

Our council have a place on their website where you can report abandoned cars and mark it on a map. Then they can check it out.

we had this in a lane opp our house - call the local police they will sort it/take it away.

Def call the police. We had to do this once with a car parked in our street.

We had one outside our back gate (so close we couldn't get out!) and the police said they could do nothing as the tax disc was in date

The did come and sort it in the end, however, when a group of teens broke into it and sat in there drinking and smoking one evening!

Those teens weren't anything to do with you, were they?!

Yes if you report to the police they will see if it is reported stolen. If not, I don't think there is much you can do until the tax runs out, as long as it is parked legally.
