Haircut tomorrow and I've found some lice do I cancel or hope to get all the buggers out?

Hair is looking very bad and I really really need a cut, but it would be mortifying if they found any lice.

I found about five in my hair last night and went through my hair with nitty gritty very throughly. I could do the same tonight and hope for the best or just postpone.

Oh god this is my worst nightmare.

I think they probably know what the eggs look like.

They will drop their scissors with a clatter and pour that disinfectant that they have for the combs on your head.

They will shout Dilys come quick INFESTATION! INFESTATION!

Comb tonight, comb tomorrow and you should be fine for your hair appointment.

HousewifeOfOrangeCounty · 14/05/2010 17:15

Aghhh onebatmother - ok, ok, I'll postpone that's the stuff of nightmares. Will be worse then that as is uber stylish slick style salon.

Can't do the dye thing as I only did it recently.

Bugger - my hair looks dreadful and now I'll have to wait.

Glad I asked though.

better to be safe than in lock-down while they call Rentokil.

Greenshadow · 14/05/2010 17:27

Combing won't get rid of the eggs though and the hairdresser will see them and probably refuse to cut. We've certainly had that before.

HousewifeOfOrangeCounty · 14/05/2010 19:09

How will I know if the eggs have gone Greenshadow - if I move the appointment to next weekend and attack like mad. I thought the eggs stuck.

The nitty gritty comb gets rid of the eggs in my experience. You just have to do it very thoroughly. Hard to do your own hair though!

pinkteddy · 14/05/2010 20:58

hedrin tonight, comb, comb, comb with nitty gritty every other night this week, hedrin again next fri night - sorted for next saturday!

You have my sympathies - this is my worst nightmare too.

Greenshadow · 14/05/2010 22:16

I always thought the comb only removed the lice Belgo - that's why you have to keep doing it for a couple of weeks so that you catch all the eggs as they hatch.
Could be wrong though.

HousewifeOfOrangeCounty · 15/05/2010 10:18

Greenshadow it sounds like you are a hairdresser, out of interest what do you do if you see lice or eggs.

Yep, pinkteddy that's the plan of attack, have moved the appointment till next Sat so will have another week of looking terrible.

Sorry Housewife, not a hairdresser - just had the experience of turning up to have DSs hair cut and being told that they couldn't do it until he was completely free of eggs and lice.

skymoo · 15/05/2010 11:39

use hedrin and comb out tomorrow, you need to get rid of them whatever, before they get worse

i took dd to hairdressers, and was turned away about 3 times until she was clear of them
