Jack Tweed found not guilty of rape

bbc

hmm. Did he just get the benefit of the doubt do you think - his word against hers?

Or "she knew what he's like when she chose to go back to his house"?

Will she now be named?

These cases are horrible - really hard to determine who's guilty - maybe we should adopt the Scottish Not Proven verdict.

That was all I'd read about it too, swc - that she went straight to the police & has kept her head down since.

Presumably he had an expensive barrister who would be better able to rip her (& her friends') testimonies to shreds

Or he didn't rape her.

Ponders · 26/04/2010 15:18

yes, or that - I wasn't meaning that I assumed he was guilty (but I would hate to be on a jury in a case like this)

still ahrrid bit of low life scum

Shaz10 · 26/04/2010 15:21

Oh absolutely 2shoes! Just not a lowlife scum rapist.

DuelingFanjo · 26/04/2010 15:22

Blimey.

I guess innocent until proven guilty but some of the things I read about the behaviour of both men at the trial made me feel like it couldn't have been anything other than rape.

What happened to the other guy?

I have no particular liking for Tweed - in fact, I think he comes across as a bit of an arsehole - but I think it's a bit much that the Mail is describing him today as having had a "rape let-off." Errrr, no, he was found NOT GUILTY in a court of law! Whatever one thinks of that verdict, it stands. Calling him "let off" is a bit dodgy to say the least.
