If I remove a friend, they won't be told will they?

I only have a few friends on there and am not really into Facebook, but really liked the idea of having people I liked on there. Someone who rarely acknowledges me in at the school gates sent me a friend request and I accepted to be polite, but can I now remove him?

I had a cull too, have had a couple actually. Only have 89 friends now but I know them all...it was getting ridiculous.

There is a link right at the bottom of their profile on the left.

They won't be notified, but if you suspect they are looking at your profile every day then they will probably notice because suddenly they won't be able to access everything.
