Hi all,

My dad is buying a new computer and has offered his flat screen computer to my dd if i want it. DD is 5 in May. She wont be able to go online. I dont have anywhere to put it down stairs and dad said about putting it in her room.....she does have abig room and i only have 1 child.

I really dont know what to do as part of me says

She's 5 lol Dad bought her a PS2 for her bday last year (May) and she has a V-Teck console. She does not play with either much.

Then another part says

Well it would be handy for the future and she can practice typing and play a few games without the worry of doing something wrong to mine.

Please help lol What are your thoughts?

I'd say yes please, she might start to use a PC at school if not already for certain activities. I found having a PC for my DD a huge help. She's a whizz on it these days, knows more than me and DH put together!!!

I agree, no internet for her though.

I think i will take it. I think they do a typing club from yr 1 (which is dd in sept)Where do you think i should put it....In her room or down stairs? Im going to have to find a space thats not there be it up stairs or down lol

Ideally downstairs, then you'll be able to keep a close eye on the amount of time she spends on it, and when you do connect to the internet, you'll be in a position to supervise her properly.

True. What time limit do you think is good for a 5yr old.

1/2hr on school nights if she goes on there and 1hr a day at the wkends / school holidays?
She only goes on my computer about once or twice a week m-f.

Hmmm now where can i find some extra space .......
