I have 2 tickets to see a comedian so my options are:

  • try and get money back by claiming on the insurance (yes i would have to be slightly economical with the truth)
  • just forget it and lose the money
  • go with a friend and get cheap hotel and maybe drive (although half a hotel room and petrol is still gonna cost me £100 extra)
  • go and come back in one evening

How far away are you? Is going and coming back in one evening feasible? That's probably what I'd do.

mosschops30 · 03/02/2010 15:49

cardiff, so 2 hour journey each way on the train

Depending on how your budget is, I would go with a friend and stay in a hotel - make it a girlie trip (have a meal/drink/shop).

When is it for? Could you ask dh to chip in and cite it as your Valentines gift?

Openbook · 03/02/2010 16:13

Go with a friend on the train. Enjoy it!

alarkaspree · 03/02/2010 16:18

I'd go overnight then too, if you can afford the extra money. If going overnight would take the train, if trying to do there and back in an evening probably car.

Dh once went to a rugby match in Cardiff and the last train back to London was ridiculously early - I think they may have had to leave a few minutes before the end of the match.

mosschops30 · 03/02/2010 16:19

Er not after he just spent £350 on a pandora bracelet and also 'let' me have a mini cooper by selling my car ..... I am deffo out of favours or asking dh to 'chip in'

He says hes happy to go away for the weekend but does not want to go to London , we havent been for a year so dont see the problem, but am not in a position to nag him at the moment as he is waaayyy up on brownie points

Want to do it as cheap as poss if going with friend

last train back is 23.30, gets into cardiff at 2am . Would rather drive if there and back I think.

Find a mner who likes the comedian, lives in london, and could go with you in return for putting you up.

TheElephant · 03/02/2010 16:31

why wont he?

mosschops30 · 03/02/2010 16:33

good idea captain nancy think I might be a bit nervous of that though

no idea why he wont, he says he doesnt want to see 'that' comedian either, but has said he'd be happy to see him in cardiff.

TBH I think its the expense, when I took dh to London last year for a suprise i spent £800 in 2 days (but it was worth it).

Hes not going to come round to the idea so I need to have a plan B.

Might try the mnetter idea though

TheElephant · 03/02/2010 16:34

oh he is a nob then surely?

wubblybubbly · 03/02/2010 16:41

Mosschops, did you not run the idea by him before you shelled out for the tickets? Or has he just changed his mind?

LoveBeingAMummy · 03/02/2010 16:43

I think we need to know who you are going to see to be able to make in informed decision

LoveBeingAMummy · 03/02/2010 16:44

an

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 03/02/2010 16:45

Is the comedian doing any shows nearer to you? You may be able to ring the box office and try to transfer them?

PureAsTheColdDrivenSnow · 03/02/2010 16:45

...and who is it btw?

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 03/02/2010 16:46

I was also going to suggest inviting a MNter and tbh if he agreed to go and now has no good reason not to, what he has brownie points for doesn't negate he is being a doughnut.

mosschops30 · 03/02/2010 16:47

he is not a nob!

I booked the tickets because he nevers wants to do anything so I always book tickets/holidays etc and then tell him what we're doing as its the only way. We always have a fab time when we go out together and he says 'oh we should do this more often' but never commits to anything.

Its to see Stephen K Amos at the Apollo, have started a thread now asking for a mnetter to take pity on me bet no one wants me

WhoIsAsking · 03/02/2010 16:47

Yeah, who you going to see?

WhoIsAsking · 03/02/2010 16:47

dur

wubblybubbly · 03/02/2010 16:48

Stephen K Amos? I wouldn't go either

mosschops30 · 03/02/2010 16:49

fab its o does Im afraid. I wouldnt have got through the last couple of months without him.
I guess Ive learnt my lesson that if he doesnt want to go somewhere then he doesnt want to go, do wish I knew why but we cant talk about it without arguing so its hardly worth it

OP posts:
FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 03/02/2010 16:51

Oh I know he has been great looking after you but tbbh so he should. He is your husband and that is what they do. It doesn't mean you can't be upset when he isn't being fair and he isn't by saying why he won't go. JMO.

Openbook · 03/02/2010 17:26

Saw the show in edinburgh - didn't like him.

FoxForceFive · 03/02/2010 19:35

Don't know who Mr Amos is.
Sell the tickets either on seatwave.com, ticketmaster (if you bought them that way) or ebay?
