It happens quite often. Cyber bullying isn't just against children. Off to check facebook for my name now.

I find it so naive of the teenagers to think that the schoo, won't find out about it

DS1's headteacher had to suspend a lot of children from school because of a FB group about her. Of course the parents kicked off, but teachers and heads are covered under the anti-bullying policy

Why do children do it? Because it's the modern equivalent of writing on toilet walls. However, time was when a gang caught doing it would have been punished by parents as well as school.
Now many parents defend their children's right to express their opinions, however nasty and public and unjustified.
Wait for the homosexual or paedophile accusations in the next wave.

"don't they understand that outside the classroom teachers are normal people?"

Never mind teenagers, plenty of adults don't understand this.

Also, teachers are normal people inside the classroom too.

A young teacher at our school was driven to a mental breakdown by cyber bullying, which included a facebook group. The comments were very personal, and included threats. She was very talented, and will now never return to the profession. No pupils were punished.
