If you were a man in your 20s would you want your mum to tell you you were being childish and adolescent or would you prefer to be left alone to upset someone you love and possibly lose a great relationship. Basically should I have dived in and tried to rescue my lovely boy or watched him drown

In my 20's nothing anyone said would make a jot of difference. He has to make his own mistakes.

I think so to but it does hurt.

my brother (who is in his twenties) won't listen to a word our mum says to him, is there a friend/family member he looks up to/admires who could have a word instead of you?

making own mistakes is often best though

The more you persist, the further in he?ll dig his heels. Let him get on with whatever it is he feels he needs to do and if and when it does go pear shaped for him ? you must NEVER say, ?I told you so?
