My neighbours have no control over their dog

A family that live 2 doors down from me have a boxer dog and they cannot control it at all. If it escapes then they have to chase it for ages to get it back and it runs all over our street. It has already broken one of the lights in our front garden when it escaped a few months ago.

DD is 14 months and will soon be at the stage where she wants to walk around and not be carried or in her buggy and I'm starting to worry about this dog. It doesn't seem vicious, on the contrary it seems very friendly but it's so boisterous I'm worried that it'll knock her flying. It can be quite scary when it runs up to you even though it doesn't growl or anything. The front gardens in our street are all open plan with no fences so I can't keep it out of my front garden.

I don't know these neighbours terribly well, I know their names and that's about it. WWYD about the dog? There is a dog training class in the village, would it be awful if I dropped it into the conversation next time I see my neighbour?

Thanks in advance.

Best take advantage of this friendly dog to introduce your DD to. I'm sure the nieghbours are doing everything they can to keep the dog in.

I'd be too worried, the dog is really bouncy and doesn't follow even basic commands. My other neighbour has a very well behaved dog that DD has met a few times so she isn't afraid of dogs, I'm the one that's worried about the boxer.
