Just how scary is Christmas Carol 2009 for a 7.5 year old?

First time posting here so apologies for any first timer errors but this does seem an excellent place to get some feedback. My daughter has been asked to a party next week at a local cinema to watch Christmas Carol (rated PG). I didn't really think much about this but my DH pulled a face last night and said, 'too scary'. Of course, loads of children are going etc etc, peer pressure etc etc, she's dying to go, I'm not sure now and can't really get an accurate picture by looking at the clips and reviews.

Has anyone seen this film and would you take along your 7.5year old girl?

My DS1 who's 6.3 went and he enjoyed it.

There was scary parts but he seemed O.K.

It is quite a dark film.

Yes I would let her go.

depends on the child, my dd wouldn't like anything too scary or loud but other children may be fine

still waiting to see Up but dd won't watch it because of the fierce dog scene
