2nd hand bike for DD2. Give it now or put away for Christmas?

Plan was to get DD2 a new bike for Christmas. Now i have managed to get one 2nd hand off Ebay for £31.

Her old little bike isn't very good. Back breaks don't work despite my brother trying to make them better, she just can't squeeze the handle enough.plus it is a bit small.

We cycle to school most days. So now i am wondering if it would be better/safer to let her have the bike now.

She is 5yrs old BTW.
So WWYD?

Hmm, tough if she rides to school and her breaks are not working,

I would give it to her now with a hint of 'ooh look an early Xmas pressie'

The front brake works so it isn't as bad as no brakes .

Is Christmas too far away for a 5 yr old not to be upset when she has no main present chrismas day?

Wait till Christmas,

If her brakes work OK on the other one.

If you bought her a brand new one for £150 you wouldn't give it her now would you? She would have to make do till Christmas, so let her make do.

A lovely bike with a bow will be great Christmas morning

give it to her now. she needs it if she is cycling to school and has bad brakes.

or get old bike brakes fixed and let her make do.
