party booked for 10 days time but only three replies

DDs birthday party. emailed all guests to invite just over two weeks ago. 14 invites. So far 3 have accepted and five have declined.
We are going on holiday for five days tomorrow and will get back four days before party.

I have entertainer booked which will be grim if there end up being only four or five girls.
What would you do :

cancel now or
hope that most of the outstanding non replies will be yes and go ahead.

I am not worried that people can't make it - her birthday is in the school hols so it happens - but I am getting nervous. Just a couple more replies and i would be relaxed about it. Am I worrying about nothing

I would phone to check they got invites and hopefully they'll let you know that they're coming.

Could you invite a few more as five have declined?

I'd phone all who haven't replied and aks them. I'd also invite 7 or 8 more as you've had 5 decline.

I wouldn't worry though - whether it's 3 or 33, they always seem to have a great time!

God this makes me angry. People are so rude, aren't they?

It's my birthday party on Sunday, (significant one!), and we sent out invitations at the beginning of July, asking for RSVPs before 31 July as we would be on holiday after that and we needed to confirm the numbers with the caterers. I'm still waiting for replies from around a dozen people.

I'd definitely ring them and explain that you need an answer as you will be away.
