I do love fb but I really can't be bothered to read anymore status updates slagging off an ex p / constant updates while at work / smutty stuff / my life is wonderful / my life is crap all the time. All I seem to do is delete & block and hide news feeds these days.

I'm really quite tolerant but at this rate the only fb friends I will have are mn-etters who seem to have more of a sense of humour and better perspective on life than eveyone else.

[out of touch old grump emoticon]. I am in a dreadful mood today . Maybe I'm just jealous I don't get to have any fun .

disclaimer: the above doesn't apply to the mn-etters I know who are having a shit time and have every right to be pissed off and tell the world about it.

I hatew those ones who tell everyone how much they love their partner. 12 TIMES A FUCKING DAY. they get instant block on my fb!

Most people are sad people these days who have nothing better to do than sit on fb [like me] updating their status' in hope that somebody reads them...

ducdo · 25/08/2009 20:56

I agree, as much as I love FB and keeping in touch with friends and seeing what they're up to, I can seriously do without the frequent updates throughout the day.

One in particular updates status atleast 4 times daily (not exagerrating) talking us through their every move e.g.

  1. had a lovely lie in this morning whilst hubby made me breakfast
  2. looking forward to lunch with my X and X
  3. enjoyed a lovely lunch with my X & X
  4. helping X with their homework
  5. watching X on TV
  6. moan moan moan about something or other

and on and on and on ... enough already!!

kitesarefun · 25/08/2009 20:59

Yep..PixiNanny agree with you there.

And those whose every single post is about their PFB.

PFB has just burped. How cute!

PFB is asleep on my shoulder!

PFB is having his shitty nappy changed!

PFB has been sick on me!

I wonder how long it will go on for, and if they'll still be updating their status every 5 mins when PFB is 33.

PixiNanny · 25/08/2009 21:05

Haha, I had this couple in particular who, every hour or so from 8am till 1am would update their status to how much they loved one another, I had both on my friends list so double the updates...

I also added a girl from my hometown a while back and was a bit disturbed by her updates, mianly involving wanting to beat people up and then switching to how awesome her friends were three or four times daily

I'm quite young so most of my friends are either the same age as me, my parents age or PGLing, so therefore don't have kids yet or have older ones so don't post about their PFBs, though my friend who has a four month old PFB is very good at not updating us on him every five minutes!

passionfruity · 25/08/2009 22:15

Google "STFU Parents" and "STFU Marrieds" and report them!!

sheepgomeep · 02/09/2009 18:30

I know what you mean. I have one girl who plasters her sordid life all over her facebook updates, and as I know her fairly well and her situation its quite sickening. Especially when she posts about her kids.

Another posts about the man she just met and how great he is about 5 times a day. Yawn.

dp has a friend who posts nasty stuff about her mates on there and then does nothing but moan about how crap her life is. She is only 17.

I quite like reading mn fb friends status updates because they have something interesting to say, even though I can't remember who they are!

Brunettelady · 13/12/2009 22:47

My cousin put an awful message on his status about his GF, where he was swearing and everything. I got worried and told my nan who told his mum. She spoke to him about it and he has guessed it came from me. Now he doesn't want to go to my nans if I am there. Big bonus in my opinion. He also puts all sorts or other crap about how his DS is sitting on his lap farting. I would delete him but I honestly want to keep on eye on him and his GF.

IHaventHadTiger · 13/12/2009 22:47

facebook is wank

Brunettelady · 13/12/2009 22:50

I like your name .

IvaNighSpare · 14/12/2009 06:59

Lamebook - the funniest and lamest of Facebook

MumGoneCrazy · 14/12/2009 07:17

Thanks for that link
I've been pissing myself laughing for the last 15mins

NormaSknockers · 28/12/2009 20:00

I try & do jokes or at least something semi witty/funny as my status - I'm so fed up with people having miserable, moany status all the time, usually the same few people!

Flame · 28/12/2009 20:02

I love the statuses of a girl my mum used to foster. She is always VERY angry with someone, and talks about people calling "da feds" a lot. I always want to tell her that we don't actually have feds in this country...

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 28/12/2009 20:10

Delete the twunts. Just delete them.

mowcop · 28/12/2009 20:17

I know someone who constantly updates, but always with a criptic/leading statement, so everyone goes "oh what's happening" "are you alright" etc. Probably a bit mean of me, but imo it's just attention seeking.

Flame · 28/12/2009 20:28

Ah yes, the whole "Its ok, I didn't care about it anyway...." type of ones

bluesparklypartydress · 28/12/2009 20:35

I'm mostly quite lucky with my friends' updates but do have one friend (well - contact - not seen her in over 5 years...) who's a teacher - obviously a lot of her fb friends are teachers at the same school so lots of in-jokes, quotes from homework/exams she's marking etc etc - extremely yawnsome. Thankfully now figured out how to hide her updates!

MaggieMnaSneachta · 28/12/2009 20:36

One girl on my list put on her status today "i am never taking a laxative again'.

ffs.

MaggieMnaSneachta · 28/12/2009 20:42

oh bluespark, you've reminded me, one girl i went to school with regularly posts things like "I'd like to thank my team for their support".

oooooooh, you're in charge of a team, get yoooo!

salbysea · 28/12/2009 20:48

LOL it is quite amusing!

I always think that the people who plaster declarations of love all over facebook probably have the most unstable relationships as what are they trying to prove and to who?

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 28/12/2009 20:56

Norma yours always make me laugh

I have a friend who broadcasts everything all the sad details about how she is suffering and wants to get better now, but if anyone asks her what the matter is she gets shirty. Don't fucking broadcast it then!

There are loads always saying how much they are in love, then calling the poor fella every name under the sun then back in love again. i hate people!

Meglet · 28/12/2009 20:59

mowcop the crypic ones are the worst . Fucking drama queens the lot of them!

OP posts:
NormaSknockers · 29/12/2009 07:04

Why thank you Alice

differentnameforthis · 29/12/2009 08:08

I hate the 'goodnight' ones....

"X is off to bed as she is really tired & pfb will wake me at 2,3,4am......" no one cares, ffs!
