Which wedding would you go to?

Both on same date, both evening invites.
wedding 1 - workmate. has been a colleague of mine for just over a year. I don't know her soon to be DH, and DH doesn't know any of my workmates or their DH/DPs.(all of whom are invited) I, (obviously) know my workmates, but not their DHs. DSes aren't invited.
Wedding 2 - mother and step father to be of a afriend of DS1. I know her and him pretty well, DH knows them to say hello to, I know her parents , DH doesn't. I and DH won't know any other guests, but the Dses are invited to this one.I ahve helped her out a bit finaicially (we're not talking hundereds,) and I feel she really looks on me as good mate.

Dilemma!I can't make my mind up.
If it helps, I can make the hen night of wedidng 1, but not wedding 2

Wedding 2 for sure!

And hen night of wedding 1 if you can.

BlingDreaming · 11/05/2009 17:32

friend always beats colleague. Unless you're the kind of colleagues who are also best friends etc etc etc.

wedding no 2

Fimbo · 11/05/2009 17:33

Wedding 2, would win for me hands down.

fruitshootsandheaves · 11/05/2009 17:34

I would probably go to the one who invited me first, then I've got a true answer for the reason not to be at the other one.

FrankMustard · 11/05/2009 17:34

wedding 2 definitely
going to hen night of no 1 is a nice gesture and helps if you're feeling awkward having to turn down the invitation to the wedding do itself.

DoNotAnnoy · 11/05/2009 17:35

Wedding 2.

Saltire · 11/05/2009 17:35

fruitshoot - thing is I thought wedidng 2 was a week after wedding 1!.
I've only known the couple at wedding 2 about 18months. Workmate - well I like her, she moans a lot though.

wedding 2

TrillianAstra · 11/05/2009 17:48

Wedding 2. But don't feel obliged to take DsSes just because they are invited if you have a babysitter and you think you might have more fun without them.

myredcardigan · 13/05/2009 21:53

Wedding 2 would be a good family day out for you all as your DSs are obviously friends with their son(s).

Baconsarnie · 13/05/2009 22:42

Wedding 2 for sure!

islandofsodor · 13/05/2009 22:45

Wedding 2, she sounds a closer friend.

funnypeculiar · 13/05/2009 22:47

Wedding 2. Mates trump work colleague, esp if fairly new work colleague.

Unless you fancy a child-free piss-up, in which case wedding 1
