Any idea who this bit of gossip is about?

This is from Popbitch. Any idea who they could be on about? It's really juicy.

One of BBC's popular dramas almost didn't finish its recent series. Two of the actors - one blond, one dark, decided to forget their
previously hetero lifestyles, wives etc,
and started a passionate affair. This wasn't the problem. The problem occurred when the
two lovers fell out. And refused to appear on set together. Production had to shut down.
Eventually the boys showed enough intelligence
to agree to see out the series, until one
could be killed off.

Umm, according to the showbiz forum on Digital Spy the programme is about UK spies and it's a bloke with a posh sounding name and bloke who's a baddie in Nottingham. Spooky!

I've heard rumours about the 'Nottingham' guy before. What a waste if true!!!

bananapaddlepop · 24/04/2009 18:20

Oh I thought it was those two.

squeaver · 24/04/2009 18:24

Ahhh, thanks TF

My sister will be devasted if it's true about the bloke with the posh name... he used to live near us and she used to stalk see him around all the time and turn to jelly.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 24/04/2009 18:38

Have also heard the rumours about the Nottingham guy - guess why I am gutted.....?

lucasnorth · 24/04/2009 18:47

Ah, had also heard this one ( - guess why I'm gutted....?)

But, at the risk of being contrary, it sounds like a load of old balls to me. My alter-ego (who looks strangely like the previous poster's DH) was always billed as REPLACING the blond chap; so they clearly weren't ever expected to overlap (ooh-er!) much in the series. And if they had originally been meant to overlap for the whole series then a. I'm surprised the beeb was prepared to pay for both of them () and b. it seems very unlikely that the scripts for all the remaining episodes would have been completely re-written, locations re-scouted etc etc.

[waiting for someone with an inside track to tell me I'm in denial and it's all true emoticon]

So am I guessing its the one who was in Vicar of Dibley and the one that was in the Jack the Ripper thing cos if so why am i always attracted to the gay ones??

MuffinBaker · 25/04/2009 18:12

no idea what you are talking about

josben · 25/04/2009 18:12

I've still no idea who this is about - more hints please

Technofairy · 25/04/2009 18:28

Two actors from a BBC show about British spies. 6 letters, starts and ends with an s.

Yes, the one who married the Vicar of Dibley and a bloke with a double barrelled surname whose first name is normally suffixed with 'the Bear'. Don't know if he was in a Jack the Ripper thing.

Highlander · 26/04/2009 15:18

the blond one is soooooooooooooooooo gay. Not surprised

rookiemater · 26/04/2009 15:23

Oh please, so gay that he is married with two children. I can see why you would go to the bother of doing that if you were a US superstar with million dollar movies riding on your image, but can hardly see that happening over here ( and if it is then don't want to believe it about the gorgeous blond headed one, sob)

MuffinBaker · 26/04/2009 15:24

still don't know who you are on about

lottiejenkins · 26/04/2009 15:25

The clues are there muffin.........in posters names and in posts as well......................!!!

MuffinBaker · 26/04/2009 15:27

I don't watch the programmes mentioned so I guess that is why I don't know who it is.

beanieb · 26/04/2009 15:31

I don't know who these people are and I don't care though I do feel a bit sorry for their spouses if it's true

macherie · 28/04/2009 19:06

As a fanatic of that series I think that's total rubbish. Those characters were only in the first episode of the series together before one meets a sticky end.

If the gossip is true, then, given that the series is so intricately plotted, the whole thing would have been re-written and still been on in it's scheduled slot in Oct.
I don't think so.
