Opened post being delivered by a random in the early hours - what’s going on?

DH has a hobby magazine delivered fortnightly. It comes in a clear wrapper. The last two magazines have been posted through our letterbox in the early hours by some random man who stops his car outside our house. The magazine wrappers, which show our name and address, are missing and the magazines have clearly been read.
I can only think that this man does an early shift at the sorting office, reads the magazine on his tea break then kindly drops it off at ours on the way home.

Or am I missing something?

Or they should have been delivered the day before or earlier and he's taken them home from the sorting office, read them and brought them round in the early hours so he's less likely to be caught red-handed.

Less likely, they've been delivered to the wrong address where someone is coincidentally interested in the same hobby, he's read them and brought them round as above.

Is it usually delivered by Royal Mail or delivered by volunteers that run the magazine?

I live near a big publisher and they often advertise jobs where the shift is something like 3-7am, maybe it’s just a night shift job.

Dunno about the rest though!

Maybe they’ve been mis- delivered, and the recipient couldn’t resist? At least he’s bringing them round afterwards

where we live , there is X Avenue, X Lane, X Road, and XY Road , where the X is a really common descriptive word

every time there is a new postman, we get each other’s post until he settles in,
only for it all to start up again when there is the next change in personnel

Would a worker in the sorting office really take the risk of opening post, even if he subsequently delivers it, now that most people have Ring doorbells (other makes available!) which give really clear images? He’s got to realise that you will eventually complain. Do you have a Ring doorbell?
