Where do your young grandchildren sleep when they come to stay?

Toddler grandchild (18mths) can’t stay in the travel cot anymore due to climbing out.

I was looking at the toddler inflatable beds. Does anyone use them? Do they stay inflated? Are your toddlers happy to sleep on them?

We had those (Ready Beds?) for visitors/when we stayed with people, our kids liked them. We had the toddler size and the next one up.

When our child was too big for the travel cot but still quite young we bought a £35 kids inflatable mattress with low sides from Amazon, it looks almost like a paddling pool. It was great.

Our travel cot has a zip down side panel so she will be in there until too big to fit.

Yes we had one a few years ago when they were small. Worked fine stayed inflated. Might need an additional blanket with them though if cold. Now they are bigger they just sleep in a normal bed but certainly stayed over several times in an inflatable ready bed. They tend to like them due to the designs/character themes available. Easy to roll up and transport too. From memory we brought our grandson one for part of his Christmas present. Easy then to take with them if they travel to visit other relatives.

I have small kids. I haven’t used an inflatable toddler bed but I think I’d prefer a regular mattress (can be cot sized). At 18 months they tend to still wriggle round a lot. We have also used sofa cushions (the part you sit on), moved onto the floor.

Never heard of inflatable toddler beds! That's a good idea. I used a single mattress on the floor but really it's all becoming very difficult.

Intex toddler air bed with sides is brilliant. Our kids fit in it until roughly 6 years old and the edges were enough to stop them rolling out. It’s pretty big when inflated so no good for squeezing into tiny gaps but our lasted 2 kids with loads of use it was very durable.

Loved these for sleepovers

Yes, inflatable toddler bed. Ours had higher sides, a bit like a blow up paddling pool, so they couldn’t fall out.

When by boys were that age we used a foldable bed guard and used a regular bed. It tucked under the mattress

Mine had ready beds ( blast from the past there. I had completely forgotten the existed 😂) mine stayed at my mums a lot and those beds held up really well. I agree with the poster who suggested extra blankets for them tho.

when my middle DD was around 5, my mum kept finding her in the dogs bed in the morning (with her pillow and blankets) and the dog sprawled on the sofa downstairs. mum had Great Dane at the time and the bed was like a huge padded furry donut. She bought DD her own one and it made her entire year

shes 18 now and still insists it was the best sleeps she ever got

Not a grandparent, but you've reminded me of when I used to stay with friends with dogs, and slept with the dogs! Was warm and comfy, but I wouldn't expect the grandparents to buy dogs for this reason!
OP, I was going to say that the grandparents in our family use a single mattress on the floor when they babysit overnight.

Yougetmoreofwhatyoufocuson · Yesterday 23:13

I had a couple of floor cushions that unfolded into a mattress. In 3 segments. They also were great for making dens as they stood up in a semi circle. They came in useful for camping too.

User9088 · Yesterday 23:16

Up until about 3 I just used the travel cot mattress on the floor for my children. When that looked a bit short we got a stokke inflatable which had been very good. Hasn't deflated

Another vote for the intex toddler bed

Toastandjam16 · Yesterday 23:39

My DC used those at that age for staying at grandparents or if we went visiting somewhere. A small duvet over them as well if it's colder and you're sorted.

Ready beds here too, kids loved them. Going back sometime now but sure got them in Argos. One of them did manage to flip it over in the night and couldn’t flip back, she was like a stranded turtle…she was a real thrasher though and still loved it

Chilly80 · Today 12:29

Yes toddler ready beds are great

Rockyroadminibites · Today 12:35

We used ready beds too (another having a blast from the past!). We used them
mostly visiting relatives without spare beds. For those with spare beds we used a folding bed guard.
