What do you do to keep yourself looking as youthful as you are able to?

Just interested in this as I approach 50. I take collagen and a multi vit and am looking at my skincare.

wonder what else people do that I can take on too. I know I’m never going to look 20
again but if I can look as good as possible or for my age then I might be willing to
try it.

I have worn spf 30-50 since late teens (now 48). Stay out of the sun, exercise and strength train. I take creatine but that's all I take as a supplement. I eat healthy and a lifelong veggie. Toying with the idea of giving up booze (I love wine but it doesn't agree with me as I get older so I am greatly reducing my intake anyway). I use azelaic acid and tretinoin for skincare which seems to be having an impact. I also do facial yoga to keep the jowls at bay!

But what does 50 (or whatever) look like, or what does youthful look like? I think sometimes we think of 50, or "older", based on what our parents looked like, and in that respect, then yes, I look young compared to my mum at the same age - different fashions, different focus on health, fitness, etc. So, based on my childhood expectations of what I'd look like at 50, yes, I look much better.

Do I look young compared to other 50-year-olds? Some, I guess, but then maybe not others, especially those on social media who push their skincare routines whilst filming themselves through filters! Having said that, I've just gone through the post-divorce glow-up, and it has worked wonders for me - may not be the tip you're looking for but it sure works for me 😉

I would like to stay fit and well if possible, not so much bothered about youthful, just looking my actual age (51) is fine. I've lost 2 stone on Mounjaro, BMI now hovering around 25. I'm on 5mg still. Would like to be BMI 23 but it's tough to lose more as I need to eat about 1400 calories a day to lose weight, and am trying not to lose too much muscle as well. If I average more than 1800 I gain weight. My muscle tone is very good, I've always exercised, and am a size 10-12 in clothes and am 5'7". Below a size 10 and I start to look skinny with my build as a lot of weight is in my legs and not on my middle.

One thing that is annoying is I just seem to get one slight injury after another now. Last year I had an LCL sprain, now it's right shoulder rotator cuff. Feel like I'm wearing out already!

I take Wellwoman and collagen when I remember, and some extra magnesium. Cholesterol, blood sugar, iron etc all good though my B12 was on the low side of normal, even though I eat a lot of B12 rich food. I just don't eat a lot of food as there are not many calories to spare to stay slim. In terms of exercise I do weights, yoga, two spin classes and open water swimming. Can't do a lot of weights at the moment due to my shoulder. My job is sedentary, that's not much I can do about that.

Someone said the other day "sleep like it's your job." I try but TBH sometimes rely too often on Phenergan to break a pattern. I've always had insomnia from time to time.

Fuck all 😀

I was thinking this because I am very lazy. However I then realized I pay a hairdresser for blonde hilights to blend in the grey.

Skin&me (tretinoin)
collagen (not sure if it does anything!)
healthy eating and low- ish carb to stay slim(ish) - also makes me feel much better to eat basically very little sugar.
bit of lymphatic drainage and gua sha massage on face if I get time
try and dress well
exercise when I can
posture exercises (again when I can, but hit and miss but I figure sonething is better than nothing!)

I also don’t look too closely in the mirror and try and remind myself nobody is going to be scrutinising my skin from 4 inches away or even 12 inches 🤣 . I also look at other people around my age, don’t compare to people 10+ years longer and try not to put so much emphasis on my or others looks in general and focus on positives of myself and others and don’t judge myself too harshly.

Stay thin, double chin lipo, blepharasty surgery, botox, lip and cheek filler, Profilo, minimal make up, pilates daily. I make no apology, I like it and there isnt any way to actually alter your appearance unless you alter it. I was told I looked tired from the age of about 5. I was not happy with myself, I was fat and miserable and I looked it. Being 50 and happy seems to draw people to me, I dont think its to do with my fake looks, its because I dont think about how shit everything is anymore and feel actual joy in life. Being rich and thin doesn't make you happy but it definitely helps not being fat and poor.
