What do you do to keep yourself looking as youthful as you are able to?

Just interested in this as I approach 50. I take collagen and a multi vit and am looking at my skincare.

wonder what else people do that I can take on too. I know I’m never going to look 20
again but if I can look as good as possible or for my age then I might be willing to
try it.

La.roche posay b5 serum.is.lovely for hydration and helps pigmentation
Azelaic acid for smooth skin and redness
Vitamin c serum for brightness
Also use exfoliation liquid from Paula's choice and mandelic acid alternative morning and night keeps the skin even and helps with fine lines .
I have just tuned 50 I have good genes so don't know if this has been keeping me youthful but I get a lot of compliments on my skin ! Like u I'm 50 and not trying to look younger just the best version of myself

Tazarotene, spf, microneedling (by a professional, not at home)

DewDropsAndCobWebs · Yesterday 21:24

I eat a shot ton of fruits and veg, and laugh a lot.

TheImpOfThePerverse2026 · Yesterday 21:24

Drink lots of water and exercise daily. Controversial but I get a bit of sun every day too 💥

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · Yesterday 21:24

Stick my head in a bucket of concentrated astringent each morning.
Oh, and never look in a mirror.

Comedycook · Yesterday 21:25

Botox, filler.

I take collagen but not convinced by it.

Don't dress frumpy...dye grey hairs regularly

RaraRachael · Yesterday 21:25

Nothing. I'm just naturally young looking.
We seem to have a youthful gene on my mother's side of the family

TheImpOfThePerverse2026 · Yesterday 21:27

I weigh myself every morning too.

Greyhair59 · Yesterday 21:28

SPF 50 every day since I was 35ish. Stable weight.

Happywalnut · Yesterday 21:30

I definitely need to lose some weight - just find it so difficult at the moment. I drink lots of water too. Can def try strength training and more fruit and veg.

Literally nothing. I do strength training to be strong. I eat vegetables because they taste good and feel good. I wear sunscreen because I live in Australia and don’t want to get skin cancer. I give zero fucks about “looking youthful” because I am not a youth and all the fucks about being healthy

HappiestSleeping · Yesterday 21:35

Man here, sorry to intrude. I look up to the mirror when I am shaving in the morning to find that my face is still looking down at the sink 🤦‍♂️

Still, I figure that as long as I look better than Catweazle, and I am about 60% confident I do, I am probably OK.

TheImpOfThePerverse2026 · Yesterday 21:39

As you approach 50 @Happywalnut is the best time to make changes, it gets more difficult after that.

I was diagnosed with BC at 50 and I have no doubt my lifestyle at the time contributed to it (overweight and drank too much). Don't be like me.

SuperSharpShooter · Yesterday 21:50

No skincare regimens/interventions here. But I did switch up my make up a few years ago. I now wear a lot less, a good burgandy mascara and some gold shimery face oil. Looks loads better and lighter than foundation etc.
I also had my 'colours' done by a friend and was actually amazed at how different I looked... out with the monochrome, in with the cream and brown, who knew!
If I'm feeling youthful with no bounds I'm still quite partial to a touch of Neon for the right occasion 😂

LaurieFairyCake · Yesterday 23:01

Botox every six months
Aesplla
retinol at night
micro needling

thistimelastweek · Yesterday 23:08

Stay out of the sun as much as possible.
Always wear shades outside.
Don't engage in complicated skincare routines but moisturise liberally.

Whoops75 · Yesterday 23:14

Since I’ve turned 47
i pay monthly into a good skin club at an GP led aesthetic clinic which pays for Laser and Botox twice a year plus an expensive serum.
I wear SPF daily
Good diet and exercise

My only vice is alcohol which is very aging.

GarlicNothing · Yesterday 23:15

I look in the mirror under dim lighting.

Swmk · Yesterday 23:40

Always wear factor 50 suncream on my face.

SemperIdem · Yesterday 23:52

I think I have probably inherited good skin from my maternal side (hormonal acne blip aside), my grandmother is 88 and could easily pass for 10 years younger, visually.

We’re all very pale skinned so stay out of the sun/use spf and have moisturised from about mid teens.

I use azealic acid serum in the mornings, and alternate between Vichy 89 and retinal for the evenings, with La Roche Posay as the moisturiser for morning and evening.

Unflavoured collagen in my peppermint tea each morning.

Crushed23 · Yesterday 23:56

Stay the same size as I was in my early 20s.

Have small tits.

Have a younger DH.

Combination of these 3 means I’m seldom mistaken for older than I am.

TheeNotoriousPIG · Today 00:05

I won the genetic lottery in that department! However, as I have fair, sensitive skin, I wear SPF daily, moisturise morning and evening, and have been doing my best to deal with rosacea. I admit that I drink more water when I'm at work, but I do eat fairly healthily, which presumably helps. My work also keeps me fit and provides unintentional strength training (farming).

Very recently, I have started Botox for migraines. The cosmetologist told me that I'm very lucky to have got to my age without any lines on my face, and to consider the forehead Botox as a cosmetic perk to keep the lines at bay for much longer!
