Do you recommend your mattress?

We’re looking to buy a new mattress (and bed frame) but a bit lost with all the choice. Pocket sprung, memory foam (is it hot?), different materials … It’s overwhelming!

I’d really like to avoid plastic and stick to natural fibres.

I’d definitely like to try them out before buying. Do you recommend any shops (London)?

Anyone love theirs?!

We bought a new Premier Inn one off their website. We always have a good night's sleep at a Premier, so thought we'd get the ones they use. Really pleased with it. Very comfortable.

Do you mind telling me which one as I am interested in those as well?
Can you return if not happy having tried it?

This one. Can't remember what the return policy was - we didn't need to do it. It will be on their website.

I stayed at a PI last week… found the mattress to be a bit firm!
I love our IKEA mattresses. We have 4 double and one king version of them. Can’t remember what it was called though… it was a good, expensiveish one, but not the most expensive one! Medium firmness.
Visitors always say how comfy they are.

Warren Evans. It’s a decent pocket spring and not too hard! I hate memory foam and hard mattresses, from what I remember you fill out a questionnaire on their website and they recommend one for you. I also got a divan base with storage drawers. I’ve had both for 4 years and am delighted.
In a world where money is no object, I’d get a mattress from Sofitel or Weston.

I have Romantica ones. People staying over usually say how firm they feel, but the following morning, how comfortable they are to sleep in!

Very happy with our Emma mattress which is six years old.

Warren Evan’s here too. Love it!

We have a Tempur , it's years and years old and like new. Made a premier inn one seem very uncomfortable on a recent stay.

We bought a ViSpring mattress at Heals. A bit spendy, but oh so comfortable! I wish we had bought it sooner. You spend a third of your life on your mattress, and most people keep them for at least a decade, so worth buying the best you can afford.

Yes, mine is Harry Benmore and I love it

Wells37 · Yesterday 21:10

John Lewis own make mattress has been the most comfortable ive had.

We threw out our old mattress after 22 years (it was gross!) and splashed out on a Flaxby, which is made of natural fibres. It's excellent.

ChasingRainbow5 · Yesterday 21:10

I bought mine from Dusk after seeing people recommend them on here. It was about £400 so significantly cheaper than other brands I looked at, and it’s so comfortable.

fitnessmummy · Yesterday 21:11

Premier inn and we love it!

notspringingback · Yesterday 21:15

We have a vispring mattress. We didn’t actually buy it new, it came barely used with a house we bought and it’s incredible.

tinyspiny · Yesterday 21:18

We have a Dormeo octaspring hybrid , it was on offer in Costco . We’ve had it about 2 yrs now and it’s fantastic . I’ve never slept particularly well in a premier inn so I wouldn’t want one of them .

Pinklightning · Yesterday 21:26

I have a foam one but my hips and back are knackered so I’m following with interest.
When I stay in hotels I hate how I can feel the springs on the side of the bed when sitting on it. I know that but isn’t for sleeping on but I’d want the springs enclosed all the way round. I previously had a spring mattress and as it got older I could hear the springs moving as I breathed. I do have very sensitive hearing though. My foam mattress has actually split on the edge about half way down. I’m not sure how. It was only £200 and has lasted about 9/10 years so can’t complain really.

Also watching for ideas! And need European sizing 😭

LostFragmentsOfTheTenthMuse · Yesterday 22:02

We have a tempur elite and it's amazing. It's about 4-5 years old and still like new. It does ruin staying in hotels or holiday homes now, the mattresses just don't measure up.

Mathleticsathlete · Yesterday 22:14

We have a Harrison Spinks one, made in the uk from natural fibres grown locally. We stayed in a holiday let with the most comfy bed we’ve ever had so looked at the make before we left. Then bought one! Stocked at quite a few big retailers.

MrsCratchitstwiceturneddress · Yesterday 22:21

Check out Enchanted House. All natural materials. They are a small British company started by former of employees of ViSpring and they now actually own the joinery firm use by ViSpring beds. We’ve had excellent service from them. They won’t sell you a product you haven’t actually tried. They have a lovely showroom at Darts Farm in Devon but they are also stocked across the country. I phoned their customer service department to find my nearest stockists and they were incredibly helpful.
