Are you annoyed? Worried?

This is just a chat, looking for what conclusion people jump to first.

Is this a reverse?

grrrlatrix · 28/10/2026 16:45

I honestly wouldn’t notice.

Threeboystwocatsandadog · 28/10/2026 16:52

I think it depends on whether this is normal for her or not. If ds2 didn’t respond within a couple of hours I would get worried. Ds3 can take up to a fortnight (longest so far) to get back to me and when he first moved away it used to stress me out. Now I’ve made my peace with it.

I honestly wouldn’t notice.

I wouldn’t notice for anyone else particularly. Expect we text frequently as I considered her a good close friend. She is away though so perhaps she’s completely forgotten.

My last text was firming up plans for this coming weekend.

It appears no one is allowed privacy or time to themselves anymore. Unless she was knowingly in distress when you texted her then just leave her to it.

ETA - she's away! For god's sake! Unless you need to know something NOW then leave her be!

I think this is a hyperbolic response, honestly

She is away, surely that makes sense.

I think yours is! And the irony being that my response doesn't impact on anyone else - leave her alone! It's Wednesday. Get a grip!

If she's away it's understandable. I think I'd follow up on Thursday asking if plans were still on.

Yes and no, she’s been away many times before and no lapse in replying etc.

I’m probably described as somewhat anxious so tend to default to wondering if I’ve said something etc. Which rationally I know I haven’t!

I think nothing. I deal with and reply to social media when I have time. If it is urgent I call someone.

SummerInSun · 28/10/2026 17:01

Good grief. These types of threads terrify me. I can take days to reply to a friend, quite easily. Especially as I work full time and often message pop up while I’m working and by the time I finished work and can reply I’ve forgotten all about them.

What are you terrified of?

You wouldn't want me as a friend, unless the message requires an immediate response I'm not going to notice if my friend hasn't replied and there's no guarantee I'd have replied to a message to me

I'm old enough to have got to adulthood before mobiles were a thing and would hate the stress that they seem to make for a lot of younger people. No space in my head for such micro analysis

FallingfortheUnderdog · 28/10/2026 17:04

bobiwien · 28/10/2026 17:02

What are you terrified of?

Presumably causing someone so much stress that they need to post on the Internet about it for no reason at all, I can empathize

sweetpickle2 · 28/10/2026 17:05

This is overly anxious, OP. Nevermind the fact that she is entitled to respond whenever she likes- if shes normally fast to reply then you need to allow for the fact that she’s away, and you’re firming up plans for the weekend when it’s still Wednesday.

Leave her to her trip.

Erin1975 · 28/10/2026 17:05

bobiwien · 28/10/2026 17:02

What are you terrified of?

The fact people read so much into social media posts. Choose the appropriate communication tool for the urgency of the response. If you need an instant answer call someone. That way you know if your message has been received.

AutumnOakTree · 28/10/2026 17:06

If you want an instant response, phone her.

Massive over reaction

Who?

Makingsenseofitall · 28/10/2026 17:39

I genuinely wouldn’t even notice. But it’s your friendship op and you know the person. If you are worried or concerned it’s a loving and kind thing to check in on them?

PointyBirdsArePointyPointy · 28/10/2026 17:46

At least it was within your 24 hour "limit" though!

Dontlletmedownbruce · 28/10/2026 17:53

I reply when I read my messages which is when it suits me. Once or twice a day. If a reply is needed I might leave it til the next day or a period when I get to to sit down and catch up. If I'm busy that might be a few days. If it's a thumbs up type reply I'll reply on the day. If a friend demanded more from me we probably wouldn't still be friends.

GoodkneeBadKnee · 28/10/2026 17:59

Why not just call them?
