I remember David Walliams making a nasty joke on stage about Caroline Flack at an awards ceremony, he sure didn’t care about her mental health or accused celebrities being hounded by the press then.

The allegations floating around this thread clearly demonstrate that white British men will certainly become millionaire celebrities and abuse the vulnerable in sight.

We have to remember these are only allegations.

There have been many well known people who have been accused of rape and sexual misconduct that have been proven to be false.

Just because someone says something happened, sometimes decades ago doesn’t mean it is true.

We must think of the poor men.

Well no matter how wrong the person is they are still might kill themselves - Jason Arday is a good example. And then everyone blames each other for "hounding them down".

Obviously you are right about this being used as a tactic but equally, if any precaution can be taken preventing a tragedy then this injunction is fully justified.

Who’s monitoring the suicide risk of the many, many women this man has allegedly abused? Have they got access to private hospitals and fancy lawyers? Can they purchase their way through the court system?

Yet again there is a huge imbalance of power here weighted in the favour of the abuser. Society should not continue to enable it and if the High Court rules in his favour, I believe history will look at the decision in a very poor light.

The recover of many survivors is aided by telling their story publicly and being believed. I know that because I have been personally involved in giving women a voice in the press on many occasions.

The courts should not get involved in this process.

This man is innocent until proven guilty in the law courts, but the law courts are not the media. The press cannot send him to jail or financially penalise him. Publication of this material is not a ‘trial’, it’s a reckoning, and a long overdue one. He will have a right to reply.

The legal process can take place whenever the men in charge of the CJS get around to it. The two processes are both important and both have a vital role to play in any democratic society.

Over 100 accounts, similar in nature, from people who mostly don’t know each other. Allegations relating to ‘girls and women’. Girls.

What we don’t know for sure is who this man is.

So yes. Allegations. Not facts. But the injunction is a misuse of money and power to silence victims.

Well I’ve got eyes and I’ve seen the video of him sexually assaulting someone on stage, plus, you know, all the evidence against him. Do you have to know someone personally to know they’re a wrong un? Is that actually what you think?

This type of comment is exactly why we need to find ways of making the legal system more fair. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You are making an assumption based on the gutter press and social media which is set up to draw people like you in. The stories might be true but they might not be. The public's desperation to see successful people fail can very easily get in the way of truth.

No it doesn’t always mean it’s true. The public are not thick. They can weigh up the testimony of many women speaking out, often completely unconnected women, with the version of events put forward by the alleged abuser in his right to reply. There have been many occasions where men have been accused of abuse and have continued their lives unhindered afterward. Two of them are on Coronation Street right now.

But the public should have a right to know whether they are supporting a potential abuser when they watch a TV programme or buy a book.

The Guardian, ITN, Press Gazette. Not gutter press.

100 plus accounts by people that don’t know each other, saying similar things.

This argument is used to silence victims. We need to shine a light on abuse.

Press - will report and will need to be very careful what they report.
Legal System = will decide injunction or not and process the allegations and put in any consequences.
NHS = can manage his mental health.

Could I please trouble you for the Podcast name? Im looking for some new ones.

If he kills himself then that’s his choice.

His other choice is to fight these ‘untrue’ allegations which won’t be overly hard if they are fabricated, with all his money and expensive lawyers.

Agree and it’s FAR more likely that abusive men are unaffected by true allegations than false allegations ruin men’s lives. Mostly victims of sexual abuse (if they even dare to come forward) are denied justice.

I realise my view will be unpopular on MN but everyone is innocent until proven guilty. I so hate the precedent now of hounding people in the UK and hopping on the judgemental bandwagon without any evidence or knowing the person at all. It’s pretty horrible behaviour.

I always wonder if Mumsnet had been around in the early 90s. And what posters would have thought of Craig Charles being arrested and imprisoned for rape allegations,
Unfortunately I suspect that even though the woman in question admitted she made everything up there will be a certain few who will insist it did happen

JaniceBattersby · 28/10/2026 08:25

And for those people who believe the press just print at will and fuck the consequences, I can’t tell you the amount of legal, ethical and privacy-related hoops journalists have to go through to print allegations of those nature these days. There are many hundreds of men in public life whose abuse will never be made public because the bar for publication outside of criminal proceedings is so incredibly high. You can work on a story like this for months and never get it across the line. The law is ALREADY weighted heavily in favour of abusers.

I just watched a couple of YouTube clips and am shocked. I don’t know Mark Ronson personally but I have been a fan for many years and from all I have seen of him he comes across as a nice person. This is hideous behaviour of David Walliams - you can see MR at the end visibly distressed. A more recent clip is a presenter being quite damning about DW and rightly so. The strength in DW in wrestling MR to the ground and keeping him there is disturbing.

In completely unrelated news, legal aggregator sites often publish information about top legal firms and the cases on which they are working.

https://legalnewsfeed.com/2026/08/07/cleary-gottlieb-lawsuit-david-walliams-injunction-and-merck-trademark-dispute-lead-londons-legal-headlines/

How are they able to publish that?

I agree, but I remember the Caroline Flack threads where for some reason people portrayed her as a victim.

This thread ain’t about her and don’t want to derail but Caroline flack was undeniably a victim. She suffered terribly with mental health her whole life and was bullied to death by the media. How have we still not learned from what she went through and clearly continues to go through even after her death with comments like these.

Teado · 28/10/2026 08:47

Can ordinary people who’ve been done for shoplifting play the suicide card too, to keep their names out of the newspapers?

Thought not.

I don’t think shoplifting cases reach the media any more with the death of local newspapers.

She was charged with assaulting her boyfriend. Would you be defending her if she was male? It’s very rare for it to be this way round but we must be consistent with these things.

I dislike this stripping powerful adults of agency because they’ve chosen to abuse somebody and don’t want to face the consequences.

Caroline, whoever, all these people are rich, connected and very successful in a niche and privileged career path. Many many adults have MH issues and are still accountable for the decisions they make every day. Caroline could’ve chosen to step away from the spotlight and focus on her MH, she chose not to because she was addicted to fame.

HylianShroom · 28/10/2026 08:50

I look forward to revisiting this after DW has been found guilty of some serious crimes, which he will be in due course.

I hate to be ‘that’ person but he’s attempted suicide (according to this thread) what; 3 times now? Probably more attempts we don’t know about? If you are certain you want to end your life, you can absolutely do it with near 100% success.

I have to be honest and say people with repeated ‘attempts’ seem to fall into either the ‘lonely’ bracket where they do it for care and attention (no judgement, you must feel very abandoned to do that), OR the ‘manipulative’ bracket as described by so many on this thread.

In short I don’t believe he has actually sincerely and truly tried to end his life 3+ times, it may well be a tactic he uses when things aren’t going his way. Like now.

Agree. If he has attempted and failed three times, he is as spectacularly bad at that as he is being a decent human being.

This is manipulation in it's most profound form.

The 'women and girls' mentioned on the BBC website, need to make police statements and a case against him and let the law work.

If he needs to be sectioned, so what? My DMum was sectioned twice. She still had friends and family that loved her. Life went on.

Victims need to be heard and have their cases tested. I was SA'ed by my first proper boss in the early 80's and it properly fucked me right up. It needs to stop and these people need to be heard.

This person will have committed these acts on a background of the press having a field day over every salacious thing so he he needs to face the consequences under the same conditions.

As someone who is currently fighting a parking ticket for parking in a free car park and an electricity company who insist (despite the Ombudsman coming out in my favour) that I owe £1000+ in “unpaid bills”

I am always trying to fight these type of accusations, from HMRC taking me to court for not filing my tax returns on time (I had a letter dated months prior to the 31st January deadline as a receipt that I had filed them in time) to credit card and loan companies stating that I had applied for credit cards or loans that appeared on my credit file. (One of these companies told me the date and time I had filled out the application form for a credit card. It was 3 minutes after I had given birth to ds by CS and at that time was lay on my back in an operating theatre being stitched back together and could prove it by my hospital notes).Plus loads of stuff that comes out of left field

My life is taken over by these people and companies and at some point (of course it will be my choice) I will just give up and end it.

Add to that I have never been paid tax back despite HMRC owing me thousands over the years.
This year it is a mere £335. Can I get them to pay me back.
They just keep saying they will get to my account in x weeks and when that doesn’t happen I am told to wait months more etc until I am timed out of claiming

Sometimes people don’t have the fight in them to go through things even though they know that they are in the right
