I am surprised tbh (or maybe not) at how personally people have taken it.
I am actually surprised as I thought onlies would be happiest. My friends who are one and done all seem so calm compared to me. I have a boy and a girl. I’m always running around and meeting myself coming back!
And I don’t know why some people are saying well THAT’s not true because I grew up with two brothers … well assuming you’re female, that’s not a family with two boys then, is it!?
People have definitely focused on the sex rather than the number of children which is funny as we can control how many children we have (unless multiple births) but not the sex.
@ByTipsyShark if it helps I have a six year old asleep well I hope he’s asleep anyway in the room next to me. Personally and this could just be me I did find him a bit hard going as a toddler. Obviously I loved him very much, always have, but I had to keep a careful eye on him in parks and soft play as he was prone to being a thug a bit physical, he loved tractors - I had a book about life on the farm he was obsessed with but I could never read past the first page as he just wanted to point at the tractor and roar TACTORRRR so my dreams of sharing children’s books with him seemed remote, and he wasn’t into sitting still so colouring, crafts, puzzles were all out. Typical boy people might say, but as he’s grown with every passing month and year we’ve found more and more common ground. We now read so much and we both love it, we teach one another about science and nature and animals, watch David Attenborough together and yep, finally we can colour and do jigsaws. We’re working our way through a map of the world one at the moment. It’s slow going!
Caveat that my daughter is equally as wonderful. Like her brother she’s been annoyingly pedestrian as a toddler and defies MN to adore Elsa, unicorns and fairies but she loves doing puzzles, reading and sitting - all things her brother did not!
Your baby will be just wonderful because he is yours
