Does anyone else remember chanting this as kids? It was like a song that always started with 'when susie was a baby' and continue to when she was dead, and when she was a skeleton , a ghost etc.

Not sure why but it came into my head the other day. Do children still sing it?

I remember it as: I’ve left my knickers in the vicar’s car.

We used to sing "left my knickers in the policemans's car". And I'm sure we sang "Susie was a stripper" for that verse, rather than teenager

What about the little story where you typed the numbers into your calculator as you went, did a little calculation and the ending was ‘she turned around to say goodbye (you turn then calculator upside down at that point) … and ended up BOOBLESS

We thought that was amazing. Whenever the calculators came out in maths 55318008 would somehow be on the screen

I remember being envious of a friend's calculator which had 10 digits instead of the usual 8, so she could write 5773857734

50 years later I still remember that 14215469x5 = SHELLOIL 😍

Yes - and wasn't there an accompanying joke "What fuel does a tortoise run on"?

I don't recognise most of those lyrics. A baby I think was 'Goo ga, goo goo ga'. And I'm pretty sure Granny went 'Knit, knit, knit knit knit'.

I can't remember the rest but I think we ended with when she was dead and just all shut up and stopped immediately.

It was a clapping rhyme. You stood opposite another girl and clapped hands with them. (Early 1970s)

Granny was knit, knit I dropped a stitch.

Does anyone remember

i went to a Chinese restaurant to buy a loaf of bread bread bread
They wrapped it up in a five pound note and this is what he said said said
My name is Elvis Presley girls are sexy
Sitting on the back seat drinking pepsi
if you drink Pepsi you are sexy
if you drink coke you will smoke

We used to sing this but the last bit went
my name is Elvis Presley, girls are sexy,
sitting in the back seat drinking Pepsi,
have a baby, join the navy,
drinking Pepsi Cola
drinking Pepsi COLA
DRINKING PEPSI COLA

We also used to sing
We are the golden girls
we wear our hair in curls
we wear our dungarees to show our sexy knees,
a boy came up to me
he gave me 50p
he gave me fifty pence to go behind the fence,
I pulled my knickers down
he threw me to the ground
and after 123 he stuck it into me,
my Mummy was surprised to see my belly rise
my Daddy jumped for joy
it was a baby boy!

Thanks everyone. It's really amazing that a little song like that could be so widespread and well remembered.

The version I remember is
Baby - Waa Waa Waa Waa Was
Child- Miss Miss I can do this I got my knickers in a awful twist
teen- ooh ahh I lost my bra I left my knickers in my boyfriend car
mum- brush your teeth comb your hair Don’t forget your underwear
gran - knit Knit you silly little twit
dead - silent
skeleton- rattle rattle rattle rattle rattle
ghost - BOO!!

This is exactly the version I remember singing in the 1980s.

Oh god yes I remember singing that golden girls song.
Our verses were a little different.
"Then Tommy stuck it into me" was one of them

I remember the golden girls song as "the Barlow girls" with the slightly different lines!
"It was the boy next door
He had me on the floor
We did it once or twice
And it was rather nice !"

Oh you'll never get to heaven in Fred's car, 'cus fred's car won't get that far!

Oh you'll never get to heaven, in a playtex bra, cos a playtex bra won't stretch that far. Chorus: 'I ain't gonna grieve, I ain't gonna worry, I ain't gonna leave this world in a hurry, I ant gonna grieve, my Lord no mo-o-ore ....'

We sang those words too!

We did also sing the bit about the bra and knickers - but like other posters had no idea why she'd be losing them in a car.
