Best creepy-male putdown ever?

I think I've got one of the best.

Years and years ago when I was first engaged I had a very creepy boss who had even made comments about my backside. I told my fiance, who was a tall man (still is, but now my husband). At the time he had a bright yellow car. One day he came to pick me up from work in it. My boss was a short man and he was standing between us looking into the car. He commented on what a lovely colour it was.

Looking straight into my eyes across my boss's head and the roof of the car, my DH replied "yes, the only trouble with it is that it does attract insects".

Can you beat that ?

Wow. What a sick burn, he won't have recovered from that.

I tend to use "Piss off".

Your husband’s line is one of the best I’ve ever heard because it’s perfectly timed, impossible to respond.
It’s the kind of insult that doesn’t raise its voice, it's just quietly ends the conversation.

Wonkybaby · 09/10/2026 12:53

I don’t think that’s a particularly clever put down. Your husband was obviously implying that your short boss was an insect. Which a. Probably went over his head and b. Isn’t much of an insult.

muddyford · 09/10/2026 13:01

The best was a meme.
Creepy taxi driver asks woman if she's meeting a man.
Woman replies that she is a man.
Silence for the rest of the journey.

My fave is “ i already have an arsehole in my pants, i don't need another”

Is this another example of MN'S AI bot going rogue?

I can be a bit slow on the uptake so It definitely would have gone over my head 😆 I'd've replied "really? Is it the bright colour" or something equally daft. But later on it probably would have struck me that it might have been a put down! I think it's subtle but clever!

That reminds me of the recommended put down for the double glazing salesman who used to go round knocking on doors in the 80s.

"We've already got it", when you don't.

I think it might be, I've just been sent a completely unsolicited "how are things?" private message when I have no connection with this poster whatever.

I'm a bit slow today, you're going to need to explain that one to me.

When we had been in our new build for 18 months and a salesman from a window company came round I stomped out the front door, stood and stared at the window and said "well bugger me, what would you know...we have windows"

He scarpered

I was being cat called by a creepy man in the street, he started following me so I turned round and said ‘sorry mate I haven’t got any change’ he wasn’t homeless he’d clearly been in work as he was wearing a suit. It worked really well 😂

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 09/10/2026 14:48

When i was about 17, my bf was showing off his new car to our friends - the way 17 year old boys do!

One friend - trying to embarrass me - asked him (gesturing at me) ‘have you two had sex in there yet?

And - quick as a flash - my boyfriend asked him ‘have you had sex?’.
Friend was indeed, still a virgin, and very subdued after that.

Ahh, i still miss him.

OneoftheWeddingPeople · 09/10/2026 15:33

Dd2 does a baffled and slightly sympathetic “do i know you?” to
pervy men. It’s surprisingly effective at wrong footing them as puts the relationship on a person to person basis rather than victim and prey.

I am not proud of this as it was extremely unprofessional but thankfully, well received by the woman and her sister. I am a midwife and whilst repairing a lovely lady post birth, the male partner made that time old comment about putting in an extra stitch. Well, he’d been a knob all night and not in any way supportive of his partner during labour and without thinking, I turned to him and said something like “I am sorry to hear you are too small to appreciate your partners very normal sized vagina”. I immediately regretted it and we sat in complete silence until the sister started to clap!

Anyway, all was fine and I wasn’t reported! But next time I’ll just think it instead of saying it out loud!
