Its in America but FFS !! for people who don't know much about rollercoasters and why the lawsuits are so dubious, the X2 peaks at 4 G's which is average for a rollercoaster (they range from 3 G to 6 G) so if 4 G's was causing brain bleeds almost EVERY rollercoaster would

Sad times where people can get anything "cancelled" or taken down through pure greed alone if you don't like rollercoasters don't ride em period !!

looking forward to fairs where all youre allowed to legally ride is the teacups !! NOT

Six Flags Closes X2 Coaster After Brain Injuries

Two riders suffered brain hemorrhages six days apart, prompting Six Flags Magic Mountain to end the iconic coaster's turbulent 24-year history.

Who are ‘they’? You just sound like a conspiracy theorist now.

America is a litigious country. Were you not aware of that? Did you ever wonder why cups of coffee from Maccies have the ‘contains hot liquid’ warning?

There's a really good reason for that. Multiple things went wrong in the case, it's not a simple case of a standard coffee spill. The woman received third degree burns in her pelvic region and the coffee was over 80°C.

janettetheirritated · 05/10/2026 12:12

Then where's all the hundreds of brain injuries from other rollercoasters which are also 4 G's or even higher ??

Well you can turn that one on its head and ask the question why other coasters which exert similar maximum g-forces aren't currently experiencing the same level of public interest ?

Could it be that g profile and how customers experience those forces (restraints seating etc) rather than just the maximum g force experienced has a part to play ?

Keepoffmyartichokes · 05/10/2026 12:20

janettetheirritated · 05/10/2026 12:12

Hitting headrests isn't G's .. the G's themselves are being blamed ..

If you actually bothered to read about it properly it's the combination of the g force with the heads hitting the rests and the spinning around.

I don't know .. but you can't ignore the smell of rotten fish coming from these claims . and who says they were riders , other than that's what their families claimed ? how do you know the deceased even existed at all other than there are photos of them , which can be faked with AI nowadays ...

Ahh a conspiracy. A vendetta against the G’s. 👀

OP has been on too many rollercoasters

Life is a rollercoaster acc to Ronan Keating. Are 'they' going to ban Ronan?

IrradiatedHaggis · 05/10/2026 12:24

Is this intended to be satirical? This is how you think MN posters think, no?

FrankAbagnalesLies · 05/10/2026 12:24

janettetheirritated · 05/10/2026 11:54

Not irate , just fed up with cancel culture and I can see how this is going to open up a new wave of people deciding they don't like a ride and they can get money for writing fake complaints about it . eventually fairs will be a thing of the past !!

It's not cancel culture, it's capitalism at work. When the financial risk associated with the ride became to high they shut it down. Multiple people died - time to get a grip.

The standard T&Cs that are accepted when you walk through the gates covers the minor issues that rides can cause. The issues from this ride are on another level.

Or maybe ban life itself.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed on Ronan.

Its all power plays ... They don't need logic if they own bureaucracy.. Personnel is policy

Have you been on it OP?

We’re a family of rollercoaster lovers and have travelled to countless theme parks all over to ride some of the world’s biggest coasters. X2 is the only one I’ve ever decided not to ride due to its reputation for being aggressively rough and causing people injuries.

My completely fearless teenage son rode multiple times and came off saying he felt ‘changed as a person’ and had no words to describe it! 😳 He still says it is the most intense ride he’s been on. If it had been up to me he wouldn’t have gone on (I banned my younger son from riding it, again something I’ve never done before) but he was too old for me to influence! It’s not just about G force; there were certain areas of that ride where you’d have to brace in a certain way to avoid injury.

Im not surprised it’s gone, nor do I think it’s a bad thing.

Logic?!! I have no words op. Maybe you can ask the park owners to let you test it for them before they bulldoze.

I don't know about the smell of rotten fish, but I can definitely detect the smell of bullshit when it's around.

notimagain · 05/10/2026 12:32

Overall 4 g isn't really that high, (some pre-existing medical conditions aside.), 6 g is a bit more nasty but if it's gradual onset it shouldn't be causing injuries if people are properly restrained....
..
It's rate of onset/release of g (aka "jolt") that can really be issue, as can sudden changes in rate of rotation:

I.e. I agree with this.

It's these changes in acceleration where the passengers' heads are free to move around and hit the headrests that seems to be causing the problem.

Rate of change in acceleration is what G force is ... so saying rate of change in G is redundant .. rate of change in acceleration peaks at 4 G so is not more intense than most rollercoasters ..

Are you concerned that your brain might not be damaged enough? I honestly don't think you need to worry.

g (due acceleration) is rate change of velocity.

Jolt is rate of change lf acceleration.

Shesafancyflapjack · 05/10/2026 12:47

But this isn’t ’cancel culture’ is it? It’s an isolated health and safety risk. Comparing the closure of one ride 5000 miles away to gender issues is a wild leap. Lots to be angry about in the world, but this is batshit crazy.

AStonedRose · 05/10/2026 12:50

janettetheirritated · 05/10/2026 11:04

This is just the start of a new "cancel culture" ... they closed under sheer pressure .. first they banned people who spoke out against having biological males in women's sports, now they're wanting to ban rollercoasters because they're suddenly too "intense" and not just that, they actually want money for their complaints ..

'I'll give you 50 quid if you can get roller coasters and trans people in the same post.'

'Alrght, you're on'.

This thread is mental.

Explain why every other rollercoaster isn't causing these fatal brain bleeds given 4 G's is what most rollercoasters peak at ... just the X2 .. which logically makes no sense !!

You are so utterly clueless.
