Looks great 👍

AtlasPine · 05/10/2026 10:50

It’s lovely. I can’t offer any constructive advice because I have as much artistic talent as half an earwig but I do like it.

Looks fab!

That looks really proficient in the colour and texture; convincing! Did you have to put the honey dipper in over and over again to get the way it is dripping back in right? Because it is right, and I am impressed.

capelmustard · 05/10/2026 10:54

That's really good! The colours are beautiful and I really get the sense of the honey drizzling down from the dipper

Honestly that's so good for a beginner! Keep going!

murasaki · 05/10/2026 10:55

It's really good! The glass and the drip especially.

ShitFacedShakespeare · 05/10/2026 10:55

It looks great.

I love honey art!

grinandslothit · 05/10/2026 10:59

It's really quite good

bilbodog · 05/10/2026 11:05

Its very good OP - i would hang it!

PeanutPies · 05/10/2026 11:06

Thank you all for the positive and encouraging posts! Means a lot and feels I have another tool in my arsenal to fight against anxiety- to answer a few questions- I do look at paintings for reference in instagram however this one was a free hand…wanted to learn how to deal with light and viscous liquid. The dipper was a first wash in burnt umber and then I built in the layers to get the honey hue..

Wow 😮
A beginner, you say 😂
You are v talented

DozyCrow · 05/10/2026 11:09

I'd have guessed you're way more than a beginner OP. Your use of colour makes the picture really convincing. You should be very proud of that.

MissingMyDadAlready · 05/10/2026 11:11

Looks amazing.

pointythings · 05/10/2026 11:12

You have a real gift!

ToadRage · 05/10/2026 12:05

I used to watercolour a lot, not done it for years. That looks really great.

Nuttyrubble · 05/10/2026 12:13

Ooh it's lovely. The way the light glows through it. You're very good!

Seeline · 05/10/2026 12:18

Your colour and light is excellent. You have a good technique with the water colour paint. You definitely have talent.

I would recommend looking into perspective a bit more - the curves on your jar (top, fluid and base) aren't matching up quite right, and there is a similar issue with the end of the honey dipper.

Keep going!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 05/10/2026 12:19

Amazing! I’d happily hang this in my kitchen.

NoisyMonster678 · 05/10/2026 12:22

That looks professional, you are very skilled.

PeanutPies · 05/10/2026 12:26

@HollyBollyBooBoo Thank you! That is very encouraging to keep going and learning more tips and tricks

GasPanic · 05/10/2026 12:43

It looks good for a beginner.

The perspective looks a bit off on the table. Normally you shade surfaces that are at different angles to the light different colours in order to get a better sense of perspective. The side of the table and table top don't really do this and it all merges into one. It also looks to have too much of an angle on it.

I think though the most important tip is not to really care what other people think. Art is subjective. Some people like things, some don't and that is perfectly within their right.

The only thing that is really important is that you enjoy what you are doing. Have fun !

PeanutPies · 05/10/2026 12:58

@GasPanic yes I focused more on the honey/light and the table was not given a lot of importance- will work on that for future ones. Thank you for the feedback

It's good and you know it.

Raiderofthelostbattenburg · 05/10/2026 13:06

Oh it’s lovely! The colours and the light, very evocative. Just looking at it feels very relaxing, so I can imagine it felt even more so to actually paint.

TheBusyRaven · 05/10/2026 14:05

Looking good! The translucence is effective.
