It's never occurred to me to buy food from Amazon but a friend put me on to it and am now wondering what else I've missed out on.

So far I have oat milk, 24 can pack of ice tea, J2O cans, pumpkin spice syrup and dried fruit snacks. So much cheaper than in supermarkets.

Mutti tinned tomatoes, Biona tinned coconut milk, large bottles of herbs & spices, oat milk, canned soft drinks, “Emma Basic” brand of Japanese cooking ingredients like panko.

QueenofFox · 04/10/2026 05:51

Dog/cat food; coffee beans; snacks for kids like nature valley bars as you buy in boxes of 24. Cleaning products in multipacks. Basically anything heavy or that we go through big quantities of

MakingforMindfulness · 04/10/2026 06:01

I buy big tubs of Marmite as we get through loads of it and it's cheaper than supermarkets. Also, a big sack of cat food on subscription.
Sometimes I buy a big box of cereal bars for packed lunches if it's a good deal.

None. For food and drinks I want to go
to an actual brick and mortar business. I don’t have groceries delivered either, simply because I don’t trust strangers to actually choose the produce or meat that I would. Yes, I do know that makes me a persnickety old cow. But there it is. I will order other things on Amazon, however.

HikingHippo · 04/10/2026 06:47

Oat milk in bulk. My preferred brand is pricey and its much cheaper. I have it set up on an automatic delivery, along with the dogs supplement that is a fraction of the cost of the vets. They just appear on the doorstep once a month, whoch is just the right frequency for the quantity needed.

Rubyupbeat · 04/10/2026 06:52

I've only bought canned pumpkin for when my dog has diarrhoea.

Malasana · 04/10/2026 06:56

I ordered Barrs Cream Soda cans earlier this morning. I’ve also ordered chocolate, broth mix, Pepsi Max, tonic water and spray cooking oil previously.
Happy to be shamed for it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Meadowfinch · 04/10/2026 06:58

Nothing. But then mostly I buy fresh food so it wouldn't work.

I could buy loo rolls I suppose, and coffee, but it's not worth the bother, and bad for the environment.

Glad to see fellow shameless Amazon fans. Also, @SourdoughSally isn't this you?

I think it’s only cheaper if you buy branded items. Bit we get through loads of spices so I’ll look for those. I buy Mutti tinned tomatoes from Amazon which are always available for supermarket promotion prices.

storminabuttercup · 04/10/2026 08:30

Decaf coffee bags, they do some really good water filtered ones, bottled water, soft drinks, lucozade sport in particular is much cheaper, I bought some gravy powder you can’t seem to get in the shops any more but the date was really short for dry goods and I regret buying so many. I bought some liquid smoke too recently think that was about half the price of Ocado.

Sheswatchingyou · 04/10/2026 08:37

I try really hard to food shop locally in small independent retailers. But I’ve just bought from Amazon Hampstead organic loose earl grey tea as my local shop stopped selling it due to lack of demand apparently I was the only one buying it! It’s not coming from an Amazon warehouse but Hampstead Tea Store so that makes me feel slightly better.

I have dog food , cat food on subscription
Means I don’t have to carry them in and out of car

JustWalnut · 04/10/2026 08:43

I don't buy food or drink on Amazon, the idea of doing so feels a bit weird to me.

Weightbegonepls · 04/10/2026 08:45

Mutti or biona tomatoes! Am going to look up some of these others suggested now tho!

coffeeagogo · 04/10/2026 08:45

union coffee beans and olive oil, protein supplements and creatine

Amazon will only be happy when everyone buys everything from them, lining their greedy pockets ever further. Shame on you.

I do sort of agree except for wanting to shame anybody.
I detest Amazon as tax dodging bastards but being disabled and often housebound they are pretty essential to me.

KassandraOfSparta · 04/10/2026 08:56

Nothing. I actively try not to use Amazon.

Tonic water and oat milk are our staples. Also biona organic coconut milk. I was hoping we might find allergy friendly oat bars more cheaply but haven’t as yet.

Have you tried the Amazon coconut milk? It's under a pound a tin and ingredients are 91% coconut, water and guar gum.
I always used the biona due to ingredients but tried this and it's excellent. Unless you are sensitive to guar gum of course! You can see I bought it 6 times 😂

We don’t have tons of money so unfortunately I’m in a catch 22 of wanting to support bricks and mortar businesses but at the same time not able to pay (eg) £10 more per box of cat food pouches just to do so.

so cat food, cat litter, bulk amounts of chia and lindseeds, and the very occasional thing like a sour cherry syrup that I can’t find anywhere else.

Greenjersey · 04/10/2026 09:07

Dog and cat food, and cat litter.
The dogs comes in 15kg bags so easier to get it delivered. I sometimes use zooplus if it's cheaper. The cat has some weird allergy and it took us ages to find a food she tolerates. Only available in a shop 12 miles away and much more expensive. The litter is pricy but the best we've tried.
Tassimo coffee pods
Cheaper and shops often don't have the one I prefer.

Greenjersey · 04/10/2026 09:10

Also, Sweet Freedom caramel syrup

I buy from wherever is convenient to me. If that’s Amazon then that’s fine, they’re offering a useful service that I’m availing myself of.

Comtesse · 04/10/2026 09:34

Some spices and obscure baking ingredients.(like baking ammonia).
