I’m about to spent £360 on a robot vac. Am I making the right decision?

I’ve been dithering for a while now. It took me about 4 years to decide to buy an air fryer for goodness sake. I don’t have pets, and only adult dc living at home. I just like the idea of one less thing to do and coming home to a clean floor every day. Am I making the right decision?

I have a roborock q5 which tbf is really good although I dont really use it anymore.

  1. When the kids were messier/smaller it was great but they dont really drop so many crumbs anymore. Now they leave little bits of lego everywhere so I have to check the dustbox and do a quick check before turning it on.
  1. The LI battery, (for reference someone i know recently died in a house fire) - I cant leave it switched on because im worried about fires so I have to manually switch on/check it's charged. This is mostly a Me issue.
  1. If it socks uo a shoelace it gets stuck. Corners not as good.
  1. GET ONE THAT HAS THE HAIR CUTTER. I cannot stress this enough
  1. Mop function is essential but you can only use their official fluid.

I might try and start using him again but I wouldn't bother replacing it. I did move it at first but have gone back to my 15 year old miele!

How often do you have to empty them, they look pretty small.

I’ve had ours 2 years and I’ve changed the bag 3/4 times. The bag is in the base and the robot hoover returns to base to empty the bag several times in a clean.

You can get quite reasonable priced packs of spares on amazon including bags, mop pads, brushes, filters etc

Oh, so there's a degree of self emptying? I didn't know that.

We have to deal with the output of 6 cats, hair, litter and dirt off their paws from outside and I look at the volume that the vac brings up and thought it wouldn't do a whole lap of the house without us needing to keep emptying it.

We’ve recently bought one and although it’s pretty good it can’t get up and over the threshold bars from one of the bedrooms and the sitting room so we can’t put it on and go out. And it keeps trying mount the hearth in the sitting room (unsuccessfully!) though I think we can make that a no go zone.
We will still need to vacuum in corners, behind the tv etc and you do have to lift all cables and chargers out of the way. The mopping function is great though, I love having clean kitchen and hall floors for no effort.

Yeah they don’t do ceilings unfortunately

Nor corners or skirting boards

We have the Roborock q10 and it’s fantastic

I love ours - an eufy, but we got new chairs that are a tiny bit lower and it gets stuck under them so we use it much less.

Yes they have a bag within the base. I’d say it’s the same size as most hoover bags so it is quite efficient at returning and emptying during a clean and then the app pings you when the bag is full, or mop pads need replacing etc

At least the eufy mop and vac does!

Or close to furniture or under chairs I'd expect.
