And if Jesus wants people to pay tax, then it means that the rules Jesus laid out only apply to tax paying citizens. And as migrants are not paying tax. then Christians can ignore them, because the migrants can't be real Christians, and "Jesus law" only applies to real Christians.

That is, according to her logic, migrants are illegal, therefore Christian compassion and love does not apply to them. That is reserved just for full tax paying US Christian citizens.

If that makes sense?

I'd assume that goes contrariwise too, and that if you torment and murder others, you have done it unto Jesus.

And I have had more than one self identified "Christian" patiently explain to me that being a Christian has nothing to do with the Bible. I haven't yet faced the accusation that only a non believer would know the Bible to trick honest upstanding God fearing Christians. But that's probably because I don't go to the right supermarkets.

I find that really sad, as Christians believe that the Bible is God’s Word to us, so of course it matters! (This is obviously not the thread for discussing what that means in real life!)

I have. Many times. From US evangelicals I used to debate online. It would usually take a week or so of in depth debate before they said that, just before they accused me of being Satan himself, or a Demon sent to torment them. "Get behind me Satan" sort of thing. Free software plug now ( I am a fan of the concept of shareware). I use a PC program called e-Sword for Bible stuff. It is superb. Free, and most of the Bibles are free. Has Strongs numbers and all that for translations. Highly recommend it. For Christians and anyone interested in the Bible. Look up on Biblehub to refresh memory, then switch to e-Sword for the context, the Bible versions and translations, then the cut and paste.

Ohh. The death sentence threads on MN. How many times must we see "an eye for an eye" from apparent Christians? I did point out to one poster that it came from the OT, Exodus 21 slave laws, and was then widened in Leviticus to cover the general population, and that to use that verse implied the poster was pro slavery.
