If you could time travel to one event or place for an hour, where do you go?

I think I’d go back to watch the Christmas nativity at my primary school in the seventies, to see all the fashions and my classmates

Am I allowed to go somewhere I didn't originally go? If so: Live Aid.

dustabsorber · 24/09/2026 23:23

Be quite exciting to watch the Battle of Hastings from the top of a hill

JohnofWessex · 24/09/2026 23:23

Being on the controls of the 1955 Manxman again as she left Douglas for the last time

And shout duck at the right moment and change history.

havingdoubtsnow · 24/09/2026 23:24

I’d also consider watching dinosaurs but only if it was from a safe space

or try and persuade President Lincoln not to go to the theatre. Stay home Abe its not much of a play.

TheGirlWhoLived · 24/09/2026 23:26

Oh I’d go back to being 17 and having “pre drinks” before a fab night out in Liverpool. Laughing till my brain hurt, and just having the best time. Only for an hour though because the rest of it was icky but at the time - gosh wasn’t it fun!

D0gMum26 · 24/09/2026 23:27

Back to Xmas day 1986 around 2pm so I’d be at my Grandparent’s house surrounded by my family and see my (now dead) grandparents and relive that totally
happy feeling you have on Christmas Day as a child…

Offleyhoo · 24/09/2026 23:35

Oh gosh there could be so many answers to this! Go back and change a terrible event in history; go back and witness and amazing event in history; go back and see my dad like Tim in About Time (sob). So many things.

Boreded · 24/09/2026 23:36

Am I allowed to do something while I’m there? Like buy stocks in Microsoft or Apple etc?

Lacey247 · 24/09/2026 23:38

I'd like to see Bob Marley perform

Itsabeast · 24/09/2026 23:43

Australia Day Bicentennial celebrations 1988. Was on a boat on Sydney Harbour from 8am until midnight…an absolutely amazing day I will never forget.

MyM8Marmite · 24/09/2026 23:46

I'd go to the Sermon on the Mount and sit at Jesus' feet.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 24/09/2026 23:47

Watching Queen Elizabeth I deliver her 'I may have the body of a weak and feeble woman but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and a king of England at that' speech. Would be amazing!

CatherineHoward17 · 24/09/2026 23:52

I'd go back to the autumn of 2012, when my DDs were five and three and I was pregnant with my third. It would be about 4pm on a day when we didn't have any after-school activities. We'd just be at home and I could watch my DDs playing, hear their high-pitched voices, and feel my as-yet-unborn baby kicking. And while I was there, I'd phone my dad who is now dead, and have a chat with him too. I'd love that.

😂😂

Dontlletmedownbruce · 24/09/2026 23:55

The nightclub in my local hotel in 1993/1994. I knew everyone, I was at my most attractive (of course didn't know it or believe it). I never bothered with a handbag so kept my coins in my silk cut blue box and my large notes in my bra. The music of that time still takes me back sometimes with almost a shock of nostalgia. The hour limit sounds about right, my parents were very strict compared to friends and I really resented it at that time, I was only allowed out for a short time and always had to leave when the fun really started.

I was in Melbourne that day. Loved it.

I'd love to go back and see my nan again, but actually I'd go back to the cruxifiction of Christ. See what's really going on, was he really the son of God, etc?

Theonewhogotthecake · 25/09/2026 07:34

An hour on the Titanic (before the iceberg).

PersephoneParlormaid · 25/09/2026 07:38

My first thought would be an hour with my mum again. But in the spirit of the thread I’d like to be front row for Arctic Monkeys headlining Glastonbury in 2013.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 25/09/2026 07:44

I'd go to the original Crystal Palace in Hyde Park on the first day of the Exhibition. I would need more than an hour though.

Sherararara · 25/09/2026 07:45

I’d go back 6000 years to meet God and watch him create the Earth

I was in the botanical gardens in Sydney. I’d not given it any thought until now but interesting that the day left such an impression. Great day
