Do you have a biscuit tin?

DreamieWhat · 23/09/2026 02:46

Is that still a thing?

I remember having a biccie from my nans tin but it was a gamble on the being soft or stale.

I think I'd quite like some biccies in a tin.

Anyone got a recommendation for a decent one that keeps bourbons fresh?

Not for me, but my dog has one for his night night biscuits.

It it amazing how fast he can appear once the lid comes off that tin!

We have an Emma Bridgewater biscuit barrel and the biscuits don’t go stale in it. We do keep them in their packets inside the tin (if they fit).

Autumnallaround · 23/09/2026 10:47

We have biscuits in a Roses tin and Nuts in a Quality St tin.

The Nut tin gets filled far more frequently.

omghereistrouble · 23/09/2026 11:06

no as being on my own i do not eat biscuits but i do remember at home mum had set of three tins various sizes large cakes in bottom fairy cakes in middle and biscuits on top tin. the top tin had a sort of tray on the lid it stayed on by suction.
at night mum used to make horlicks or Ovaltine for her and dad carry it on the tin tray top for them. then they used to have a couple of biscuits. trouble is the biscuits were just put on top of the old ones when mum topped the tin up.
trouble was if it was getting near shopping day there would not be many biscuits and on the bottom of the tin it was crumbs and broken bits usually bits you do not want like stale digestives, rich tea etc.

Yes

my one is my nan and grandads.
He died years ago and she moved into a care home a few years back

the one thing I wanted when her house sold was the biscuit tin.

Giggorata · 23/09/2026 12:58

I've got one shaped like a book.

OhHobnobs · 23/09/2026 13:00

Yes, it's only ever got biscuits in when we're hosting!

HippyChickMama · 23/09/2026 13:08

A glass jar with a wooden airtight lid. Also have a cake tin (old and battered Emma Bridgewater edition Roses tin) but it’s rarely got anything in. Also a set of 3 arts and crafts style Christmas tins that come out in December and are used for Christmas cake, mince pies and the left over Christmas pudding

purplecorkheart · 23/09/2026 13:11

I have a biscuit tin (gifted). I don't think there has been biscuits in it since it was gifted to me. It currently contains a random mixture of bit similar to a junk drawer.

FadedRed · 23/09/2026 13:12

Am I the only saddo that has a biscuit tin that matches the tea, coffee and sugar caddies and the bread bin? Oh dear 😂

BobbleBear · 23/09/2026 13:17

No, not just one biscuit tin but rather a lot. DH loves his tins. A few were inherited from his Scottish mum.

They’re also filled with lots of biscuit and cakey treats but either I can’t find the right tin so give up easily or they’re on too high a shelf in the cupboard and I can’t be bothered to get the little stool out.

Weirdly, DH is extremely skinny as is teen DS and me also, now I’ve been on the Mounjaro. 🫢

Two? Why? Is there some kind of biscuit segregation?

My Mum's friend had two. One with general biscuits in - the cheaper plain ones and one with the fancier biscuits that were for herself and husband or favoured visitors. I remember being there once with Mum and the cuppa was made, biscuits were not "a given" anyway but she asked her daughter to get the biscuits out. Daughter sensing a chance to get the good ones got those out and whisked the lid off but was immediately told to put them back and get the other tin out!

Wickedwhiskers · 23/09/2026 13:25

Oh and wen have two. One for sweet biscuits and a smaller one for cream crackers etc

fumingrightnow1 · 23/09/2026 13:44

No, my nan had one and everything tasted like ginger nuts

Betterbeingdead · 23/09/2026 13:46

Yes it has a special insert in the lid with beads in you take it out and put it in a warm oven to dry them out every few months . That keeps the biscuits from going soft ! Sadly we are nearly always on a diet nowadays so I don't buy biscuits as I have no will power so the tin is mostly empty

JayJayj · 23/09/2026 21:07

No, but I do have a tin bucket that I put all snacky treats and stuff in. I’ve had that 5 years, my sister gave it as part of our 10 years wedding anniversary. It is literally a bucket. It lives on top of the fridge.

MabelMarple · 23/09/2026 21:42

I have my late mum's biscuit jar.
Biscuits are segregated though because soft cookies v crisp biscuits is not a good mix. My biscuits are Sainsbury's sultana cookies which don't last long. Other inferior biscuits live in the packet.

Zov · 23/09/2026 21:49

Nope. Makes all the biscuits taste the same IMO. We do have a box/biscuit tin type thing for small chocolate bars though - like mini twix/mini mars/mini snickers, and 2 finger kit-kats.

Only at Christmas! 😂🤷

sherbetlemonade · 23/09/2026 22:31

We have a ceramic biscuit jar. We also sometimes keep the tins you get with Christmas biscuits and treats. I have one that's used for mince pies and jam tarts as it is just the right size.

Davros · 23/09/2026 22:36

I love a biscuit tin but they just don’t keep the biscuits fresh. I use an Oxo good grips Pop jar. It’s not sexy but it really works. The price has shot up though

we have 3 and yes for biscuit segregation !!

tin 1 (old quality street tin) - plain biscuits
tin 2 (old celebrations tin) - gluten free biscuits
tin 3 (actual biscuit tin) - chocolate biscuits

🤣🤣

Cartouche · 23/09/2026 23:25

No. I think I find them kind of depressing. Memories of those glum selected biscuits assortments from my childhood — where the pink wafers and the chocolate ones went first and you were left with the Rich Tea and slightly soft custard creams.

backformoreofthesame · 23/09/2026 09:07

We use a plastic Tupperware style box but also leave them in the packet

Tis the only way.

Yes, I have a glass jar that says Disco Biscuits on it because I'm still not over the 90s.

Love this!
