Do you have a biscuit tin?

Is that still a thing?

I remember having a biccie from my nans tin but it was a gamble on the being soft or stale.

I think I'd quite like some biccies in a tin.

Anyone got a recommendation for a decent one that keeps bourbons fresh?

Yes. We do. We have had two for years.

DreamieWhat · 23/09/2026 03:13

Two? Why? Is there some kind of biscuit segregation?

No, not had one for a number of years. I don’t eat biscuits that often. Saying that i thought they were for when biscuits weren’t as well packaged to keep them fresh

Sunshinedahlias · 23/09/2026 03:23

Yes always use a biscuit tin. I have a Sara Miller one ( from John Lewis) and an Emma Bridgewater one ( for back up )

Statsquestion1 · 23/09/2026 04:37

No. We don’t buy biscuits really…

HoraceCope · 23/09/2026 04:40

we did but forgot to eat the biscuits so now just have a packet loose

Sillysausage76 · 23/09/2026 04:49

We have a glass jar

MinnieMountain · 23/09/2026 04:54

No. I buy Oreo's for DS sometimes but we don't have biscuits in all the time.
I do have cake tins and I tend to bake more in the autumn and winter.

NotMyRealAccount · 23/09/2026 04:55

Yes, we have two.

MinnieMountain · 23/09/2026 04:55

Surely any metal tin would work? My cake tins are Emma Bridgewater. They seem pretty effective.

BarbarianBabs · 23/09/2026 05:10

We have a glass jar designed for spaghetti so it’s a tall one.

definitely keeps them fresh, which is evident from the smell when opening.

works for us as we only have one pack of biscuits on the go at the same time but I’m not a fan of my Nan’s biscuit tin which has a mix of different types of biscuits. It seems to create cross contamination of flavours which makes them all taste a bit odd.

Treetreetreetree · 23/09/2026 05:16

No. If I buy biscuits I eat them at an indecent speed.
I have four builders in this week so I have created one for them.

HonorBound · 23/09/2026 05:17

No, I used to have one for cheese biscuits and a tin for sweet biscuits - but over time they both became very bashed and eventually put in the bin.

they both had handles on the lid and pulled with suction from the tin.

i have cake boxes for carrying cakes and storing

I do make cookies - but store in the freezer

Bjorkdidit · 23/09/2026 05:19

No because if we do buy biscuits, they don't last long enough to warrant a special tin. On the rare occasion that we manage to not eat the whole packet in one sitting, the leftovers just go in a plastic tub.

In our defence, we usually get something like jaffa cakes, a small pack of shortbread or florentines, where you don't get that many. We're not trashing through 40 custard creams between the two of us.

Thrownunderthebuz · 23/09/2026 05:24

Two here one general one “mums treats” (may also include galaxy ripples)

Hummingbird233 · 23/09/2026 06:55

I feel the same, I’d like to have a colourful one for aesthetics but I think in reality they’re probably best kept in packets to avoid the dreaded softness!

reluctantbrit · 23/09/2026 08:00

Yes but nothing fancy. They are tins we got from buying/or being gifted a certain style of biscuits in DH's German hometown. Rectangle and will hold 2/3 of your average cookie recipe.

We have around 4-5 now for biscuit use, 2 more are with DD at uni, one has my cookie cutters in them and one slightly bashed in is used for DH's hobby to store small parts. Another one will join the club in December with the parcel from my In-laws.

During December we have at least 3 around for a variety of homemade biscuits. But if I open a pack of biscuit they will go into one of the tins.

MajorSamanthaCarter · 23/09/2026 08:09

We have several tins but they're all empty.

sashh · 23/09/2026 08:15

I also use a glass jar.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 23/09/2026 08:20

Soft biscuits are surely only an issue for weirdos people who can withstand the lure of biscuits for a long time. That's not a problem in my house.

ItsAlwaysTwins · 23/09/2026 08:23

No, we never eat biscuits, but I can still picture the biscuit tin in my childhood home. It had a removable moisture absorber in the lid that was periodically put in the oven.

Sometimes, I’ll buy digestives to make a cheesecake base, and the leftovers sit in the larder in the pack, fastened with an elastic band, until I throw them out a few weeks later.

PoppiCan · 23/09/2026 08:25

No, I don’t like biscuits

Thingsthatgo · 23/09/2026 08:26

My MIL has one - she puts the ginger nuts in with everything else, which makes everything taste like ginger. Makes me irrationally irritated.

Parky04 · 23/09/2026 08:42

We don't buy biscuits. If we did, they would only last for a few hours!

nlop · 23/09/2026 08:56

no. For the reason I don’t have a wine rack:
because it would be permanently empty!
