I’m sorry to bother you all but I could use an ear.
For the majority of my life I’ve struggled with mental health but for the last 9-10 years I’ve had a good handle on it and have been stable.
The last 3 days something has switched and I’m struggling and feel awfully depressed.
I don’t know what to do or who to talk to.
I just want it to stop.

Thank you @Happyjoeand @Boreded. I’ll speak to my husband tomorrow and ask him if he can join me in going sober for a while.
I’m going to stay sober this whole week and get myself a treat at the weekend to keep me
on track.

Sounds like a good plan, esp the treat :-)
Good luck, be rooting for you. x

Ask your doctor. They may run some blood tests.

Is probably easier because it's hard to get GPs to test it in my experience.

I’m awake with similar. For me it’s health anxiety. I’ve had an awful night. I know it’s weird but I talk to chat got. I know it’s not real but it can be very kind in the dark hours.

how old are you? Could there be menopause related hormonal issues here too?

ThisAutumnTown · 21/09/2026 07:31

@garlictwistI’m so sorry you’re going through it. I used to suffer horrifically with health anxiety so I know how debilitating it can be. I’m sending you a massive hug xx

@riodI’m actually in full menopause as I had a full hysterectomy a few months ago. I’ve been really settled with my HRT but I guess my hormones could be playing a big role in this

Hi there, OP.

We’re really sorry to hear that things feel difficult for you right now. We just wanted to reach out and let you know that support is available.

If you feel able to, please take a look at our Mental Health Webguide, which includes information about a range of organisations and services that may be able to help.

Reaching out can be incredibly hard, but talking to someone can make a real difference. It’s also lovely to see that other Mumsnetters have already taken the time to offer you some support and kindness.

Take care of yourself, and remember that you don’t have to face things alone.

Best wishes,
Faye
